Post by Mack 10 »

Anyone stayed here, was going to book Zeeburg but its full.
So looking at getting a cabin at Bostel.
Need to know how easy it is to get to and fro, etc.

It's on the Metro(about a ten minute walk.) AFAIK, there is no night bus service there so don't plan on partying too much in the city. The place is nice and clean and it's nice being near to the woods. My suggestion is: don't arrive at night. You can show up at night and check in in the morning(as long as you book in advance, of course) but the problem is that the shower coins are sold from an automatic machine and that machine is safely locked inside the front office(along with the vending machines) which closes around 8 or so. I'm not sure what they were thinking- being able to run 24 hours is the main advantage of a vending machine, after all. So if you want to take a shower or have a drink after a day traveling, you're SOL.

Iv stayed there many times (metro 51) goes there !
Iv even lived there for 3 months ( in 2007)
It's not like zeeburg more family oriented !
Biking there ain't fun either at night the amsterdamese bos park is about 8km from amstelveenseweg and in the dark very easy to get lost !!

Went to that park (or wood -> bos) cycling a few times. While the area is really nice it was a buzz kill to have low flying airplanes coming in and out every 15 minutes or so. It's simply too close to the airport if you ask me.

I've stayed there last weekend during the Awakenings Festival, and I can tell you that now there is night bus lines . N70 and N71 (stop behind Central Station but a bit tricky to find), easier way to get one of them is to wait a the tram stop on Nieuwezidjs Voorburgwal (stop called Nieuwezijds Kolk) and get out at Salamander Amstelveen (25-30mn bus ride) then 15 mn walk to the camp place.
