Dont know what to make of this? I take it Coffeeshops still avoid it due to the "pure weed no tobacco" aspect and would this spell an end to somewhere like Batavia being a smokey haven!?

Does anyone know whether this take immediate effect and i also assuming this only applies to bars/cafes rather than coffeeshops themselves , (pure joints)

Im heading over in just over a week. :D Don't see this as so much of a problem in the summer but its too cold at the minute.

This happened here years ago ,thought it would kill bars but it made experience far nicer .
Before the law , on dart night we would say we where going to bank machine ,smoke joint
After everyone had to go outside to smoke ,it was easier just stand outside and blend in with ziggy smokers as the coppers cruised by . With all the smokers stepping outside in the Dam should make us potheads a little more unnoticed by locals :D

It is technically illegal to smoke Cannabis on the streets in Mokum afaik and although it apparently isn't policed very much I bet that that would change quickly if every other bar had a group of stoners crowding around outside the front door passing fat joints around... If you think bars will keep an option open for smokers of pure weed alone I think I you are kidding yourself. No, this is a disaster right around the corner, very likely to kill off one of the remaining few things special about the place.

Another thing is bongs, dabs etc., I have a very hard time believing that many places will be ok with you pulling out a two footer and start slamming the bowls down 8n a non-smoking place, let alone allowing you to stand right outside their establishment slinging the glassware or heating the nail to drop some globs...

Next rules will be so far from front door and no standing under canapy,s or outside patio with roof .
I will tell you this does work ,people get sick of going outside in cold weather.
It,s amazing how treating ziggy smokers like second class citizens works .
In ten years there,s been huge number of people who have become none smoker,s this does work .

But the general EU rule is that you cannot smoke in public places (bars and shit) unless those places have designated smoking rooms/places only for smokers. If the place doesn't have one inside, people go outside. Simple as that. But banning everything is always simple in our modern socialis...democracy:D

No Wlow, this is a disaster that will most likely kill places like Batavia, hsb, Kashmir lounge etc. and could also very well mean the end of smoking anything what so ever in coffeeshops since it's not possible to guarantee that no baccy is sneaking into people's joints...

spoken by a true non smoker... infact i would be willing to bet a EX smoker, right?

so how about no drinking alcahol in resturants? i shouldnt have to put up with drunk people in public while im trying to eat with my kids.
also no football in bars, i shouldnt have to listen to rowdy people shouting off while im trying to have a quiet drink....
infact maybe everyone should just stay home.
ridiculous.
as is said above this is a slippery slope where it may be legal to buy weed but you dont have anywhere you can legally smoke it, places like batavia and hsb close but also coffeeshops are smoke free, this could well spell the end of cannabis tourism in amsterdam.

@DJShaggy: exactly the point we've been trying to make since this news hit, and in other similar discussions... Let the market rule wrt what goes on in private commercial establishments and instead regulate their potential impact on neighbors etc. (which btw should be quite easy to control with a few tech implements)!

i was a cig smoker shaggy, 15 years old kiddo mixing hash with marlboro.

i'm out off it for many years now, pure weed joint, am still combusting and taking bong hits.
I hate the smell of tobacco, i can't stay around, batavia will still remain. Most bars around here banned cigs and never made smokin room, they fight with the neighboors now, drunks smokin on the path
