Personally I reckon that majestic12 bot, and the possible problem it might cause, is pretty definitely not the same one or related to the current spam problem. As far as I can make out it is a defunct search engine spider gone a bit wrong so it can end up leeching bandwidth, but it has been around for years and isn't all that much to worry about. There's some posts by its apparent author here - http://forums.seochat.com/search-engine ... 58201.html.

That isn't the cause of all this spam. A lack of effective countermeasures (validation of and limitations on new accounts, changing the reg. process, blocking spam domains, employing active moderation / administration etc) is.

Morally yes I agree but I would doubt lemming would want what is happening to his site he worked years on to be going the way it is. And I am sure if its yourself he would understand, maybe selfish on my part but its near impossible to read anything in Lems part of the forum now, and he has been gone ages now, hope he is okay.

I wish I could. The mods are only able to delete/move/merge post in the Off-Topic Subjects only. Lemming is the only Global Moderator/Admin on the forum.
