I cant comment on the breakfast but the dinner menu and bar snacks at the Uptown are excellent. They have to be the best spring rolls I have ever had anywhere - curried chicken with mango chutney is delicious.
I'm not a tourist and I do like Barney's, especially the lounge. Such a beautiful location just slightly removed from the nauseating Rembrandtplein.

Barney's has a descent enough vibe, love the new look, but those prices are still a little bit much. I know, I know, nobody forces me to buy.
What do you call a person who is from out of town? A tourist? A visitor? According to Merriam-Webster, a tourist is one that makes a tour for pleasure or culture. From the same source, a visitor is to visit - to go to see or stay at (a place) for a particular purpose (as business or sightseeing). So what are we, those who do not live in The Netherlands and more specifically, Amsterdam? A bit of a stretch, but since I don't tour The Netherlands, I must be a visitor, right?

I still think it's all about attitude.

You live in Holland , ye ?
Yeah, I do...
Do I buy all the time there, of course not, shops like Boerejongens, Bij and Katsu serve me well but i have always had a great time at Barney's Lounge. The people and service there have always been great, never have I felt unwelcome or like I was a burden on the employees which is more than I can say for a lot of establishments here. It's a lot less hectic than the main shop and you can tell. In terms of weed they can have some of the best at any given moment. They have outstanding strains and so-so strains, like many places depends on the crop at the moment. Check out some Hawaiian Snow for a nice sativa or the G13 right now. Sure Vanilla Kush is no OG-18 but the crops of G i see sometimes are amazing. When they are I buy, when they're not I don't.
As far as Uptown is concerned would I buy a breakfast there, no I wouldn't, breakfast is a bad deal wherever you go here so forget about Barney's for a value on this front but I would get a dinner or some spring rolls and smoke a spliff of G, absolutely.

As was second time to Amsterdam had more time to relax.Found outpost shop was crowded,str8 of plane tried Honey B which wasnt that good,G13 overated and not worth headache. Was impressed with King Hassan and Triple Zero hash. Made it ritual to go down town for breakfast and stock up at Barneys first.Older guy was very polite but young American had attitude.Blue cheese prerolled was ok,the Vanilla Kush was terrible.Accopulco Gold mellow but found white widdow very nice.I think with most weeds is hard to judge when on holidays and surrounded by stoned people. We found that when we were relaxed touring around the countryside the effects were considerably stronger.Have already booked next year in Centrum, the Dutch people very nice and patient. When faced with hotel food for 3 weeks the breakfast at Barneys was well worth the tram trip into town.

Barneys
Bummer at Barneys! Went in to Barney's Coffee Shp last Thursday after an hour at Barneys Uptown. It was about 7:45 P.M. and wanted to buy something good for the evening.
Went up to the available person behind the counter, a bald younger man, and ordered 3 grams of Dr. Grinspoon which is one of the most expensive at 17 Euro per gram.
As the dealer is putting the weed into a bag I notice he has two fingers inside of the weighing tray. After putting the product into the bag he put the weighing tray quickly back under the counter but as he did I noticed there was still some green in the tray.
I said "hey, there is still some left in the tray", he said "what", I said "there is still some left in the tray" so he pulled it back out from under the counter and sure enough there was about 1/2 gram still in there. The dealer says "it must have stuck to the weighing tray" I said "I'm old, not stupid"
I know I should have gone up to the manager and said something but I was a bit hot under the collar at that point. It would have been my word against his but if the manager would check the video he or she would see this person ripping off their clients. If the dealer would do thatto the clients then he is probably stealing from them also and giving the shop a bad reputation just before the Cannabis Cup for this year.
So the moral of the story is always watch the house dealer wherever you buy. I don't go to shops that have pre-weighed portions and from now on I will watch the dealer weighing the product wherever I go.
A couple of other tricks dishonest dealers could use are: Not zeroing the scale before weighing your product or putting a piece of hash on the bottom of the weighing tray.
On the good side I have found many honest dealers particularly at the Noon and Mellow Yellow. These guys are great.

Had a similar experience in Carmona.. I bought 5g of Amnesia haze.. seen him messing about with the scale, but didn't say nothing (stupidly!). when I got the bag I thought it looked light, so didn't smoke any of it. Got home and weighed it with my VERY accurate Tanita scale - 4.04g! Robbing *%*&!
So I won't be going back, which is sad cos I miss the cat in there
