I think we all got the joke. I for one had a chuckle over it.

But, I also appreciate Cisco standing up for all of us "fanboys."

Plus, I wish pedantic and knobbish would be used more in American english . Those are great words

LOL . For this very reason when my dad passed away, us being irish in heritage ( and my dad was a raging alcoholic), instead of everyone sitting around and mourning, I set up a fully stocked bar at the funeral home and my dads funeral was a hoot. People were laughing and reminiscing about the fun times with my dad instead of the uncomforable mourning that happens at wakes. (alot of joints were being smoked in the parking lot also). Some people found this very odd until they had their first beer or drink, then they thought it was a novel idea. I myself am going to sit back and wait to see what happens in Basjoe. Until then, I will reminisce <sp> about the fun times in basjoes :)

Went in there on Saturday and bought something from this short haired fuck behind the counter for 15. Gave him a 50 and my change was 15. WTF? His excuse was that his mind wandered and he confused my change for what I paid him. James was still there and that was the only reason I did not pull his scrawny ass into my fist.
perfectly good excuse, I used to do that shit all the time when I worked in retail.
shame about the change of hands, best of luck to the old crew and good luck to the new. cant believe none of the regulars from this site didnt know anything sooner. ah well amsterdam goes on
Please, its the oldest trick at tourist coffeeshops. I am relieved James no longer owns Basjoe's cause I was furious.

Basjoe will still be one of the first 3 shops I visit in Feb.

there's some people getting their backs up and tied up in a knot... I wasn't hurling insults at anyone just adding to the humour in the same vain as Boner.

I'll miss Basjoes even tho I,ve only been in there twice. James was a cool dude no questions. but if the original natural Dutch vibe of the place remains, and the music improves a bit it is still one of the coffeeshops in a real prime location with the canal and bridge outside and Nieww square just up the road on the left, Why would anyone given the chance to run this coffeeshop with all its natural advantages be so incompetent to mess it up, its a potential gold mine---the amount of money I saw changing hands at the Bud Counter the couple of times I've been in was astounding, Even tho I've only three trips under my belt I loved Basjoes ---but life goes on----hope its a case of '' Meet the new bosss, same as the old boss''.

So bummed out to read this the same day I started planning for my next trip. The only reason I ever found ACD and the forum was because I was looking for more information regarding Basjoe after my first trip to Amsterdam.

As others have said they always had consistently good gear at reasonable prices. Though other shops have good gear, prices and service nothing compared to the service and attention I received from James. No other budtender remembers me months/years in between visits and no other made sure my wife who does not smoke much was also comfortable when accompanying me.

Now I need to find another favorite shop with a nice enough atmosphere and gear where I can just as easily read or stare into space outside the window for a few hours.
So it goes.

Thanks for the info Stan, and it's nice to know James is still there right now, as I can mail my card to the shop and he'll still get it. :D

If anyone knows how long he'll be around helping with the transition, that would be super info!
