passport Vs. Id
Hey my friend and i would like to know which type of id we should carry with us in the city. I would feel a lot more comfortable leaving my passport locked in the hotel room. So is it ok to show your driver's license to show your 18 in a bar or coffeshop?

A passport is the only acceptable id for an American:

I would never walk around another city with my passport. You risk losing it and as long as you have an id, they can always get the passport from your hotel. Be careful with it there too, I know someone whose whole families passports got stolen from their hotel, but not from amsterdam. It was actually in another city. Either way, the most important piece of paper you own besides your birth certificate, is your passport, IMHO, if you like to travel.bastianaz wrote:Hey my friend and i would like to know which type of id we should carry with us in the city.
