Exhibition Amsterdam photographs 1930 versus 2007

Newsphoto has a summer exhibition showing Amsterdam photographs of the 1930, next to pictures shot in 2007 of the same location.

The pictures of 1930 are from a collection of Jacques Koops (all black and white). The Amsterdam photographer Thomas Schlijper made pictures of the exact same location, in order to show the differences. The exhibition shows that some streets have hardly changed, and some places have changed beyond recognition.

Newsphoto can be found at Haarlemmerstraat 24-26.
The opening hours are daily, 11-6, and the exhibition is open until August 29.

that sounds awesome!! i wish i could see it.. too bad they dont post the pics online.. hopefully they do once the exhibit closes.

It does sound quite cool, I went to a similar thing in Glasgow... there's been a vast amount of regeneration here since the war... I may well take a wee nosey at this when I'm over...

I went to the site puff but there was only an article.. is there somewhere online we can view these photos?

To the best of my knowledge, this comparison exhibition is not (yet) on the net. There's this site http://www.old-picture.com/netherlands-index-001.htm
that has a lot of old photos of The Netherlands and they have been colorized. I'm sure you will recognize some of the places in the pics.
