eindhoven open to tourist again

Post by madmaxxx »

http://www.ed.nl/regio/eindhoven/toeris ... S.facebook ,EINDHOVEN - Who in the Eindhoven coffeeshops weed will buy, will soon no longer need to prove that he lives in this region. Mayor Rob Gijzel wants a trial of six months to stop maintaining this' residence criterion. At that time can be measured or "the cure is worse than the disease," he wrote in a note to the Finance Committee and Board which meets on Tuesday evening.

Put an end to drug tourism
The criterion was nationwide in 2013 and a year earlier introduced in Brabant, Zeeland and Limburg. The aim was that the coffee shops only sold to Dutch. The government in The Hague was thus put an end to drug tourism. However, the ban was never implemented everywhere wholeheartedly. Municipalities such as Amsterdam were afraid that their tourist attraction was killed. Eindhoven made agreements with coffee shop owners to do meet the requirements.

Criterion is not maintained
Those operators have however returned to them. They have indicated that they feel disadvantaged by not enforced elsewhere. This is seen as' great inequality. Even in politics there were questions about the state of affairs, including the VVD. But Van Gijzel promised the Christian Union faction to change anything without a thorough evaluation. Who is there now.

From a small survey of the city of Eindhoven in 19 municipalities showed last year that eleven residents not maintained the criterion, including Heerlen, Venlo, Roermond and Arnhem. From nationwide survey showed that 85 percent of the foreigners still could come to coffeeshops. Most of the municipalities did not check on that.

Former Minister of Justice Ivo Opstelten wrote about last October that he thinks all municipalities include the criterion in their policy. But enforcement, he noted that it is a question of 'local solutions' between public prosecutors, police and the mayor.

Itinerant revitalized
Moreover, according to Van Gijzel On top of that the marketing ban on foreigners street trade has blossomed again. Drug Runners from Eindhoven buy the weed and sell them on the street to tourists. That leads to nuisance and street crime.

Reason enough for the mayor to stop provisionally maintaining the rule residents. Gijzel wants half a year to look at what effect it has. Thereafter, there is evaluated.

Research experiment legalizing cannabis cultivation
From Tuesday Gijzel also explains the state of the trial to grow legalized hemp and as organized crime to take the wind out of the sails. Despite the rural refusal to cooperate with the legalization of the cultivation, wants the Eindhoven Mayor continue investigating such an experiment. There are however quite a few snags on to: international, national and local regulations prohibit by government-controlled cannabis cultivation.

The Mayor said that a study would be conducted.
Will young adult tourists behave themselves?
Unfortunately, I have my doubts. If history is any indication, trouble will follow, always does.
What is the problem with going to a coffee shop, buy a little weed, sit and smoke, or go home?
Why do chavs/pecker heads/cunts have to ruin it for the majority of the rest?
Perhaps include in the study such items as nationality, ages of criminals, and those involved but not arrested. Use this information to assist in whether an age limit should be imposed. Tough pill to swallow, but an age restriction along borders might be an answer instead of an all out ban. Make the penalties for getting caught so severe that it would make some think twice (customers). Just an idea, probably full of holes that I've yet to realize.
Peace.

This is pretty good news ! Hope they'll see it's nonsense(Wietpas itsself not overlast!) and other communities fall as well(did anyone say Tilburg  ?).
Have been to Eindhoven shortly before the introduction of this crappy Wietpas and have been for years before. I'm quite looking forward to it! Memories :) !
Looks like there is an inspection round in town on schedule soon  ! Although I'm not expecting too much since two of my personal favorites were closed down in my forced abscence. Grasshopper(top gear when it comes to price/performance ratio)and Snooker(local's place just for the atmosphere). You'll be greatly missed so rest in peace :( !
So I hope for The Wall hashwise(I'm especially a sucker for their Hija-Hija and also like their Cristal Royal but they didn't deliver that well last time)and The Pink Panther(hope their menu got an update. They kinda sucked after their long closure some years ago)for hanging out.
Rest of the shops are not so special to me(as Eindhoven in general) but as said I'll take a look at least(doubt there changed much though  ).

I'll report back!

@Uncle_Ron: I kinda agree. It's a complicated topic though as you already realized.

+1 I never liked the coffeeshop scene in Eindhoven so much... Grashopper was good in the past but like you said RIP. Pink Panther was a good shop but like you said quality went down...I also liked the Crystal Royal and Hia Hia from the Wall so much... but it´s a buy and fly place and I don´t know if the quality is still nice... but I will check it out in the future :D

@Kingbee like said before the Crystal Royal Hash from the Wall was top stuff in the past (4-5 years ago^^). I know that you still huntig for some top maroc maybe thats an option...

@Uncle Ron yeah I see that point, too. Hopefully the young people act nice... I can´t understand why some people are so dumb :x I saw that in Maastricht for example many times... guys from Germany (like me), from Belgium or whatever act like idiots (pissing in the street, search hard drugs...). Sometimes it shames me that some of my compatriots act like that especially in the border area... A age limit would be a good idea (21+) but then you make new problems. What about the other people under 21... they will go to the black market to get their weed... and as we know dealers have other drugs, too... also there would be much more dealers on the street. Some people think it´s a good idea to make a age limit of 16... so the youngsters don´t go to the dealers and don´t try other drugs... personally I am for a 21 year rule but it is not an easy topic :D

I'm thinking a road trip could be in order. 8)

The wietpas was a stupid idea, created by a bunch of narrow minded, incompetent, corrupt fools. They made a minor nuisance in border towns a lot worse. As does 99% of drug policy around the world. Nice to see some people in government are waking up to that fact. No-one in government in the UK see it that way.

The fact that a few collaborator mindset style individuals fell for the establishments propaganda about the wietpas is as immaterial as it was disappointing. Those people trying to put forward the view is was somehow 'our fault' that 'they' were bringing in the wietpas. How very laughable it would be if it were not so sad that even people on this forum fall for such lies.

Anyone attempting to justify the view that the wietpas was somehow a reaction to stoners misbehaving and somehow justified is IMHO as silly as the wietpas itself.
