Thanks Ameriskunk, when should I feed the bloom nute. I think a trip to the local Garden centre is on the cards.AmeriSkunk wrote:John I suggest a basic bloom nute thats available at any local store, without this you wont get much buds it might even bump up the THC content also it has , for sure the christal formation. If you want to use a little fert go for it you could use ant basic fertalizer(Miracle Grow), just dont use more than directed.

AS, no Offence but I thought you requested we didn't reply directly to each other?AmeriSkunk wrote:
Gonzo I assure you that most leaf mass is in the water leaves, and I prune all water leavs off because if you prune a leaf a branch grows instead of just a bigger leaf, I have never had a problem with THC/chrystal production and I find it make a bigger yield, again I know people wh dont pull any leaves and harvest by leaf yellowing, I personally harvest by orange hairs and/or chrystal clarity. If your chrystals get cloudy the smoke and highwill be super heavy and wont taste near as good

Let's read a book...AmeriSkunk wrote:Are you claiming that you grow? Maturity has nothing to do with veg period, maturity has to do with how long you let the buds stay on the plant, you dont just put a plant on 12/12 and bam magicly you have buds. It takes 4 - 6 weeks to even see any christals
... gurgle....
BUD MATURITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH VEG PERIOD go read a book or something. veg period only dictates the plants size and quanity of buds, it has nothing to do with making THC, anybody want to back me up on this DC, im sure you could lay this out for AZ
Now the only question is whose information to believe. Jorge Cervantes is an internationally recognised expert on cannabis.Jorge Cervantes wrote: Near the end of normal vegetative growth, plants grown from seed develop pre-flowers. This is when female calyx formation initiates and it is not contingent upon photoperiod. It occurs when a plant is old enough to show signs of sexual maturity, about the fourth week of vegetative growth or six to eight weeks from germination.
...
Always wait to induce flowering until after pre-flowers appear. Inducing flowering with [12/12] before pre-flowers develop will stress the plant. This stress could cause odd growth, and plants might grow into hermaphrodites. Inducing flowering before pre-flowers form will not speed flowering. Flowering will occur about the same time as if you had waited for pre-flowers to show!
But ameriskunk is... (fill in the blank).
It's not so much that you're always wrong, AS, but that you have to add to it with stupid crap like "Are you claiming that you grow?" and "go read a book or something".
And on top of that, as soon as anyone even disagrees with you, let alone uses the same sort of raised-in-a-barn manners that you display, you lose your rag and fill your nappy.
Now that we've all read a book, do feel like you should maybe take back your hasty words and insults? Or is it time to back-pedal and claim that you meant something else entirely?
Surprise me.
EDIT - Lordy, even if I loved you like a brother, it might appear that I was obsessed with you, just beacuse you give out so much nonformation, that just HAS to be corrected.
JFTR, this isn't even close to correct:
In fact, it's almost the exact opposite of the truthAmeriSkunk wrote:I prune all water leavs off because if you prune a leaf a branch grows instead of just a bigger leaf

To continue talking about growing, the place where leaves grow from the stem are known as internodes.
First, a fan-leaf grows from the node. As the node ages, it produces a branch. The oldest nodes, if left unpruned, will have grown the longest branches by harvest time, which is what gives marijuana its 'christmas tree' shape.
Obviously (to most people), taking the leaf from a node does not cause a branch to grow. In most cases, the original node-leaf will have dropped from the plant by the time that the branch has gained a decent length. If you have a ... superstitious understanding of growing, you might make an ass-backwards reading of this fact, and assume that a leaf must be removed for a branch to grow.
Back in the real world, removing the original leaf that grows from a node doesn't have any affect on a branch appearing from that point, unless it's to stop or retard its growth.
If you're clumsy in stripping the leaf, you could damage the node
Fan-leaves are where most of the photosynthesis happens, so if you take a bunch of them off the plant, you're reducing its ability to grow at full strength, which will affect the branches and everything else.

AS, this is the last time I will address you at all, ever.
Just because I contribute to a thread that you have also contributed to does not mean I'm replying to you.
I'm allowed my two cents just like you.
Now as you asked, let's just keep clear of each other.
That's it from me.

dosent mean that they arent loosing respect , for the people involved.
what the silence usually means...is that its not worth bitching if someones wrong.....afterall all of this is not LIFE Threatening.....
So please act accordingly......
Because you dont really want us to do a membership removal poll.....
do you.......
Thank you, for attention to this matter....

I'm an indoor grower and i really have to say something about this whole thing. If i would let my plants grow for 2 months in the veg period they would grow throuigh my roof and i had to wait nearly 5 months until they are ready! One grow, from seeding to harvest, should be done in 3 months!
That means that the veg period has to be ended, latest, after 1 month and then you should go to 12/12.My weed never was weak!!!In the Netherlands, where the sea of green method is done, the veg period is longest 2 weeks and then 12/12.Some growers send the plants into flowering period when its6-7 centimeter high. The plant does not stop the growing high by getting into Flowering period.
I never read a Book by Jorge Cervantes but many others and never saw one saying you have to grow 2 month before flowerin, because that has nothing to do with thc and other chemicals in the plant. The chemicals in the plant are controlled by the genetics and not by the lenght of the veg period. Some Books by Jorge Cervantes are really old and he had to update them because even he didn't stop learning.Perhaps you have a very old edition?
Sorry because of my english,i'm a Dutch guy living in Germany and not using it so often.

It isn't about what is possible to do with the plants. Or what to make them do in this case.
From what I have read, or been told Plants grown from seed have three stages of life. Seedling, vegetative and flowering. Plants grown from cutting can have only one. As the mother plant has vegged and made herself mature, the clone will also be mature. Just because it is possible to rush them doesn't mean it is best to.
The seedling stage should take between 2 - 4 weeks. The veg stage from 4 - 8 weeks and the flowering from 6 - 14 onwards. Some sativas taking as long as 17 weeks or more
If the plant isn't physically ready to flower then it won't give as much or as good a yield as it would had it been given the proper time to prepare and good care.
The plant will yield dependant upon size. You can approximate how tall your plants will be once finished when you switch to 12/12 by adding 200 - 300% dependant upon strain. That or pruning the plant until it is wider rather than tall. A 5 foot plant could yield 5 ounces, but if it was grown to ten foot would yield 10+ ounces. Also when you buy seeds, as mentioned you will get many phenotypes. If you buy ten seeds it could happen that you get ten deiffent sized plants, if finished naturally, that all produce different yields and highs.
And growers who use the Sea of Green, SOG or Screen of Green SCROG will usually grow from clones. Even if only to save the time and wasted space of removing useless males but mainly because the mother has been sexually mature. Removing a male from a screen would make scrog a waste of time as your only using one plant per square foot on average. In SOG the wasted space again making it pointless.
The plant, if grown from seed, is ready to flower when it shows preflowers. You can force the issue by switching the time of lighting but you can't force the plant to be ready. You will only add on time to the flowering period. The preflowers will still need to develop, and that will delay the true flowering time.
When I grow I grow in the way of positronics. Trying to keep things as natural as possible. I can grow you a plant that has huge donkey dick buds and in the shortest possible time and tastes, smokes and feels like shit, or I can grow you a plant that yields what it is able to, that smokes and tastes great and knocks your socks off.
To end, and for bigjohn. Everybody will grow to suit their surroundings and lifestyle. You should make sure you read books by people such as ed rosenthal, ask ed being a good start. Then all you will need is time and experience. This is an experimental grow. It will be a learning curve but remember it is a "weed" and a good strain will take a hell of a beating and still produce something better than soap.
One thing I would point is the soil and feed that you use. Certain soil and fert is time released meaning it is easier to burn through over feeding, especially when younger and a soil high in nitrogen won't help the plant to flower.
