Rolling a Donut
I've recently bought some glass tips and enjoyed using them so I thought it'd be fun to have a go at rolling a donut/hash hole when I'm over in a couple of weeks.
My question is - what type of extract would be best to use?
I'm a bit of an extract novice it has to be said. Should I be looking for Rosin and if so does it need to be hash rosin? What about Static, would that work?
Best shops for these type of products? I'm thinking FF, Drew's or even Greed Place (been on the boycott list for a few years due to rude service but am always willing to give another chance), someone mentioned Bushdoctor recently, was it @kimble ?
Anyway, any advice, tips, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers x

Re: Rolling a Donut
Last week I went to the Bushdoctor and rolled my first donut I got .4 of a g of odv111 and I used 2 grams of gelonade that I got from cs Solo the end result was delectable ..I was surprised at how smooth it smoked no harshness or coughing..all in it cost about €110 for the joint but I lasted a good hour or more and had me blazed all afternoon..I asked for something to dab with but nothing was available in the bushdoctor that day..

For live rosin, there are only three shops in Amsterdam I’d confidently recommend atm: Bushdoctor, both Green Place locations and Grey Area. With some caveats, you might still check out Bagheera, Balou or Old Church.
Everywhere else?
Honestly, it’s a lottery. You rarely know what you’re actually getting — most jars are opened, and the quality can be hit or miss. Worst of all, the menus are incredibly misleading. Tons of shops list 20–30 strains, but haven’t stocked half of them in weeks (or months). The goal is clearly to impress tourists with fake variety — New Times and Café Mediterrané (aka Drew’s) are prime examples. What you see on the board is rarely what you get. That kind of disappointment is easy to avoid.
As for the donut:
It all depends on how you plan to consume it. If you’re just smoking it, you won’t notice the difference between premium and mid-tier rosin — so you might as well go for something basic like Green Golds or BCDR. Or just try a ready made donut to get a first impression.
But if you’re vaporizing the rosin (at the right temperature), quality does matter, and that’s when the good stuff is worth the splurge. As a general rule, rosin made from fresh frozen flower (aka live rosin) tends to be better than one made from dried buds. But like all good rules, there are exceptions — for example, the hash rosin from IceCreamMan was easily on par with top-shelf live rosin. You could already tell from the texture and color. Simple guideline for beginners: If it looks brown and crumbly, skip it. If it’s creamy like honey, you’re usually in safe territory — good texture often says more than the label.

Brilliant. Thanks @TokeingTom and @kimble
I'm not sure on my budget yet but yeah I'll be smoking it rather than vaping so may opt for a mid range
@kimble I just read your Live Rosin thread - fantastic!
Do you use parchment paper to roll your rosin?

Re: Rolling a Donut
Was it Lorenzo from TerpsArmy that started those? He was the first I remember posting them on Instagram all the time and he had the Terps Donuts branding shortly after.
You never really see moonrocks anymore, they were the other real decadent way to splash out for a special occasion.

And on the history of donuts, I was at at "Hash Holes & Donuts" party in Cookies club in Barcelona during Spannabis 2022 and Lorenzo already had the Terpz Donuts thing going for a while by then I think. When do people think it started?

Re: Rolling a Donut
If it’s your first donut, keep it simple.
Rosin is your best bet — ideally hash rosin if you can get it. It melts clean and burns more evenly. Regular rosin can work too. Static is fine only if it’s super clean and melty; lower-grade stuff can clog or burn unevenly.
Roll a thin “worm” of extract, keep it centered, and don’t pack the joint too tight so airflow stays good.
Shop-wise, go somewhere you trust and ask for something that melts clean — freshness matters more than the name on the jar.
Have fun with it — first one doesn’t need to be perfect.

Re: Rolling a Donut
Have since found this. Donuts were apparently popularised after Spannabis 2018 by a Lebanese Armenian who is based in LA.

Kinda funny as that guy was at the Hash Holes and Donuts party in Cookies in 2022, but I never connected the dots at the time. Obviously people have been smoking joints with hash rolls for decades long before hash rosin, but the hole from rosin has become IG porn.

Re: Rolling a Donut
for a basic one I tend to roll a sausage of hash and put that in the middle, , it also works out a bit cheaper and easier than extracts .. although extracts have massively reduced in cost these day, so it is become much more cost effective in ukHitTheNorth wrote: Sun 13th Jul 2025 06:06 am I've recently bought some glass tips and enjoyed using them so I thought it'd be fun to have a go at rolling a donut/hash hole when I'm over in a couple of weeks.
