The Buddha's Sister was my fav of this last trip - the Kali Mist was my girlfriend's fav. The crowds, and somewhat gimicky feel with the Ocean's Twelve photos on the wall may have me heading to Tweede Kamer next time.

Was Redman with him? A much better rapper!

The whole oceans 12 thing put me off the dampkring somewhat, it just felt soooo commercial and the 20E a gram moonshine wasn't all that(this was just before christmas)but the rifman hash tasted amazing. I did enjoy watching the orange juice machine in action though!

I've only bee to De Dampkring twice.

The weed there is good (I like the Kush types), the atmosphere is lively but it really is too busy for my likings.

I rate this place 8.5 out of 10. Mainly for the smoke.

I'd have to like it now cause of Ocean's 12, even if I hadn't liked it before (but I did). I felt they treated it so much less commercially than anyplace in the US would -- if it was the US, there'd be a 6 foot sign out front saying "THIS IS IT! OCEAN'S 12 COFFEEHOUSE"
-- so simply having some of the pics on the wall & a small sign seems the right touch to me. Unless they've beefed it up since I was there a year ago.

Only drawback is finding a seat, IMHO

I had an extremely enjoyable first visit to De Dampkring 3 years ago that really made the place stick in my mind. Aside from the quality gear and cool Mirkwood atmosphere, I met some great locals the night of my 30th birthday that made my trip. To be seen as a person rather than an American is not always the case when abroad (fyi ... many, MANY americans are NOT GW supporters), but the staff made me and my wife feel at home from the very start. And then to be befriended by a local dutch sailor and his family who were celebrating his 50th birthday was the proverbial icing. But it didn't stop there ... another local, Bo, also joined our modified B-day party and then took us out after to several clubs watching over us like a caring parent. Great people, great time. I actually did not know Dampkring was in Ocean's 12 until i came to this forum, but I hope it's retained some of the same humble magic I experienced last time, because it will probably be one of my first stops next month! Sorry to yammer on ... had such a great experience there that I thought I'd share :D

p.s. Bo ... if you are out there, I'm coming back! Same date, same time, same location!

Just spent 2 extended visits at the Dampkring and it is still my favorite even with all the Ocean's 12 crap (which the place definitelt does not need). GREAT menu, music, and staff. Bart, Joan, and Sabra were super friendly and interesting (and Sabra bore a striking resemblance to Salma Hayek which didn't hurt). Tried several different buds and hash here, but the Trainwreck definitely takes the cake. Beautiful appearance and arroma and one of the most intense head highs of anything I tried all weekend. I also agree with another post that the Moonshine was something special as well.

One last thing ... the atmosphere is very conducive to a Hawaiin Mushroom high

The dampkring, how i miss it. i used to live in amsterdam for about a year. i visited most of the coffee shops in amsterdam and nothing comes close to the Dampkring. I made some great friends there. The bartenders and the dealers and lets not forget "Bowie", the cat are barnone.Unlike other coffee shops when the run out of a certain kind of smoke may it be weed or hash, the dampkring doesnt subsitute it for anything else.
Not only did they have the best product but they also have "illy" coffee which in my opinion is the best. When ever i visit amsterdam i go to no other place but the Dampkring. They have the best service very helpful and make one hell of a toastie as well.
On a scale from 1-10, i give the dampkring an 11

I'm voting having just returned home from A'dam. Dampkring was our 1st CS of this visit. Myself and my friend both enjoyed it and appreciated the decor, the staff politness, the music, the vibe and of course the menu.

We smoked the NYC Diesel on the 1st visit and had a blast. We smoked the Mako Haze on the next night as a recomendation from the dealer to be better than the Diesel.

I thought the Diesel was better. Will definately return on future visits.

Knew nothing about the Oceans 12 issue until reading about it on here.

Stumbled upon this place by accident. I heard about it from various sources. Really cool place. Good music and freindly helpful staff.
I got 2 grams of nyc deisel and 3 grams of powerplant. Both were high quality smokes and worth the money i paid. Just like Rezin8ed i did not know about the oceans 12 thing. They have it printed on all the baggies.

Peace.
