Staying in the Niewmarket Area is great and very accessible to Amsterdam's Best and the best of Amsterdam..

If you are in the Nieuwmarkt area, give Green Place a hit. Some very good quality weed, nice smoking area in the back of the shop, outdoor seating, nice window seat looking out on the street and a friendly staff. One Love.

Any of the top 2 or 3 marocs will be blinding. give it a shot. The Super Polm I bought from Basjoe back in May was nice and tasty, but lacked a bit of a kick, and was nowhere near as tasty as Bagheera's Golden or Blonde Marocs.
smoked some of the bagherra hash, was the worst headache ive ever had, ruined a whole day...the maroc...got the bad batch excuse..doesnt fly ,wont return...basjoe rocks...soon folks

I like this coffee shop. The guys that run it are pretty mental but are cool none the less.

Would definetely advise of visiting this fine establishment if you have the chance.

I am surprised that this shop is getting so much talk. The quality is not there at all. Stick to the main shops and dont bother wasting your time. When I mean main shops Im talking Barneys, green house, greenplace, grey area, mellow yellow, etc.

Aye his posts reek of troll.

I've been to Amsterdam 20+ times and I'd rather go to both 420 and Basjoes over Greenhouse and Barneys.

I have got to agree with all of you on this one. Basjoe is a great place. But as for Barney's,forget it the place sucks. The gear is totally overpriced for the quality and has the rudest budtender I have ever met.

I remember when I was young and the guy in Barneys compared their 13 Euro bud to soapbar.... avoided it since then lol

Not defending Barneys here or anything but there is some good strains on the menu there. Overpriced yes but long gone are the days when it was amsterdams best kept secret. Its purpose is to serve as a tourist friendly coffeeshop with high class weed. Although i think the high class weed is majorly up for debate i do think it does serve its purpose of being a tourist friendly coffeeshop better than others such as the bulldog and grasshopper chains. After all comparing the quality of Barneys weed against that of Grasshoppers and Bulldog it is much better. Im not saying that Barneys is a must visit when in amsterdam, or even a good place to go. Im simply saying i think it serves its purpose well, and when people become more experienced and used to the coffeeshop scene they tend to avoid Barneys but as a first ever coffeeshop and place to start, i could think of worse places. I've never experienced out right rudness here, the staff have been disinterested or seemed to have a lack of time for customers, but this place is constantly busy and they always seem rushed off their feet. Again this is no way a defence of Barneys just an attempt to put some perspective on the issue.

Peace.

Indeed, Sir Niall...

For a first time visitor, Barneys ticks plenty of the right boxes - unlike the Grasshopper/Bulldog style places, the weed isn't bad - I've had pleasant surprises here as well as bad ones, but once you've been a few times and have found the "right place" for your own particular needs, then Barneys, for me at least, doesn't really do it anymore. It's become way too pricey for the food, and I personally prefer the vibe of De Kuil (420) or Amnesia - plus the weed's better. I used to make it a point of ALWAYS stopping here every visit, but no longer...

I've only been to Basjoe's once, and although I found the place ok, my friends didn't for some reason, so I'll no doubt give it another go on my next trip, but hey - everyone's different. Sometimes I'm not in the mood for certain places/people, so I'll usually give things a second chance...
