Not true. There are at least 4 coffee shops in Vancouver where i have been able to buy weed, or consumables.

Vancity has a way to go to be considered a north american amsterdam, lets call it the redheaded step-child... regardless, it is easy to buy in vancouver just as east as walking into a coffee shop in amsterdam. just talk to the guy behind the desk.

where in Vancity are you talking about TwoCanucks? Hastings/Carrall area? Is BluntBrothers and New Amsterdam Cafe still there? my friends and I visited there prolly 5 years ago. However when we were there we were only allowed to consume and you had to be 19years of age (i got id'd to smoke) was still an awesome experience.

Yeah there is a Bulldog there too. Real easy to get weed in Vancouver. Nice place too. Mountains and ocean. I was told you weren't allowed to ask for weed inside the coffeeshops though.

My last visit to VanCity was 2 years ago.

Off the plane and had an OZ of bc bud or whatever you want to call it (everything in bc is called bc bud) within an hour of hotel check in.

i believe it was cloud 420 that was selling weed, hash and edibles over the counter.

Next door to New Amsterdam you can buy weed freely 'over the counter' from a dealer not associated with New Am.

however, police have shut down other coffee shops recently that were selling openly.

Like I said, it's NOT amsterdam, but the weed is freely and easily accessible, and there are more than a handful of coffeeshops that allow pot smoking (but no tobacco outside of designated tobacco rooms).

EDIT: that ounce I bought cost $280cdn, the most i've ever paid for 28 grams... but it was also in my top 5 alltime smokes.

You won't find menus like AMS, usually just a dealer with 'weed' or 'black'.

The bigger industry in Vancouver is 'marijuana rentals'... you rent an apartment or house and the owner supplies you with weed.

We tried one place that I think is shut down now, but it was a condo unit with private parking.

that was the first time i tried a flavoured strain... was wonderful.

you won't find these places in the papers, but Cannabis Culture mag usually has a few listings.

Fecking butters mate, do you have to phone in your order?

There are coffeeshops all over the world, some highly fortified with strict member admission. In Vancouver, it seems the police are just turning a blind eye.

Guaranteed California have some, on my train trip back from 420 a Cali dude was doing a good job of convincing me to move there.

Technically you had to purchase your weed elsewhere, but you can smoke there. That's what I was told. Very easy to get weed on the streets.
