My favourite one is the Barney's..
it's very difficult choose among all the good coffeshops are in 'dam.u have to look to many things to decide. barney's has about 7 quality of good weed..( g13, honey b, diesel, laughing budda, cheese, etc etc) plus some quality of hash (i remember a very good charas very difficult to find in dam ) and the new "barney's uptown" it's a very cool bar where u can eat something good. it's not cheap ok ( who is cheap in dam?) but for all this causes for me it's the best!
the gray area is good for the weed too ( ehehe dna genetics ..)
and for the location i like very much green house (the one in toolstraat)
then i'd like to remember the Katsu coffeshop not so famous but one of mine obliged stop when i am in dam ( for sure for the cristal clear and the many varieties of weed.) for now i say goodbye to all it's my joint time:P
bye

p.s.
i'd like to know how is going in dam now whith the new law against tobaco...

Amnesia

Post by HP Dubcraft »

Hiya, been 4 times to the Dam now, didn't make it to Amnesia until most recent visit (Aug 18-22nd, 2008) Have they had a referb or something? Went in there a week ago and maybe its just me, but the vibe is awful!
white tile floors, metallic surfaces, too loud music, futurist pink-lights chrome, uniform rowed seating... More like a cocainey-shop than a coffee-shop... :? Sat in for a bit, but sweated like a b*$%tard so had to go outside, which was nice as they are in-front of a lovely canal.
Maybe its just me (my favorites are the Rokerij's.... for context)But it did look newly referbed... All the staff dressed identically and stuff.
Did, however, get some of their Amnesia Haze, which is by far the strongest stuff I found out there (Rokerij 5x Northern Lights a close second) tasted of straight THC.... The Wild Turkey of smokes.

Where is rasta baby in this poll?? I am due for my 3rd visit to the Dam in 10 days and I always make that my first and last stop when in Dam. The chilled vibe, good priced weed and of course those stoned cats for amusement are enough to make it my choice! Other than that would say Barneys a close 2nd- their breakfasts are just the booomb! :D

I love de kuil. I can't say that the weed or prices are all that, although they are fine, but I've had a number of great visits there. For being so close to the Central Station, I find it really inviting and cozy.

And it was the waiter there who said that I had to try the cheese at the Grey area, how cool is that?

Hey guys, yall gotta add The Green Place to the list! after my last trip it's definately my fav for their wide choice and top notch herb!

Their LA Con was out of this world! And the Blueberry cheese better than bluebirds stash imo.

Anyways favorite shops change every year or so. First was barney's then Grey area, and since this september, i gotta say it's the Green Place.

Also, i think it aso depends on timing, one week Grey Area will have the best batches and next month it will be somewhere else.

I've always enjoyed 'Greenhouse Effect' and Rockerji's. I'll do some research later this week and decide then...

These are the top 20 most popular shops according to the correspondence that I've received over the years.
Of course these are all in central Amsterdam where most tourists go. Just out of interest, the most popular shop in Amsterdam outside the centre is Katsu. Popular shops outside of Amsterdam include Kosbor (Maastricht), The Pink (Eindhoven) and Yanks (Zandvoort).

looks like they, rasta baby and green place were not classed as top 20 material back in 05!

its a hard question to answer...from the list thats there, i voted for 'paradox' with the reason being they have a good selection of weed at a decent price and their coffee is the best in amsterdam in my opinion.

Other CS's have their positives and disadvantages so the poll is overly subjective.

I really dig de Kuil for the music and gezellig, staff are friendly and I've met some cool characters there. Their Super Silver Haze is about a euro cheaper than other places. Amnesia has really good coffee, good espresso, best I've had in a "coffee shop." A G13 puur joint hit a ton. Good music and laid back staff. I popped into Stix, only had coffee, seems like a really laidback place to get away from the centrum noise.
