I went to Barneys Uptown for breakfast on wednesday. I paid 12.20 for the irish breakfast which was definately pricey and with a beer it was 18+. But I didnt regret a second of it.
I got some lovely amnesia haze and malaco cream charras from the barneys on the corner across the road, returned to uptowns and drank my beer, ate my breakfast, made a smoke from each of the 2 strains and settled in for a couple of hours. The hot chocolates there are amazing - only 2.50 and you get shitloads of cream on those puppies. Really nice.
It is pricey and I hear during summer its packed but the music was cool, the staff were good too (had the barman apologising for forgetting my second milkshake and he said i could have it without paying, thats good service in my book and i forced him to take the money anyway cos I was so happy with my time in there) and the hash/hot chocolates were great.
I do not think I would spend too much time in the shop on the corner but that was quite cramped - it was full whereas "Barneys Uptown" had loads of seating. I will certainly be returning to Barneys in the future.

Re: Barneys?
Dude! The Barneys on the corner is a coffeeshop, the one a few doors down the road is the Barneys gift shop! You cant buy weed there!timbo wrote:Hey guys, theres always mixed reviews on this place nowadays and from the first time I went to Amsterdam I always wanted to go but three trips later I still havent been(still want to go). I was chatting to a guy in a pub a few months back and he thought the reason for the mixed reviews is because people go in the wrong one. Apparently the Barney's on the corner is the always the busy commercial one and the other barneys about two shops down the street (cant remember the exact layout) is the quieter more laid back place. He said he was in the shop in the street one morning sitting peacefully and then a big group came and were being quite loud, the staff in the shop then went over to them and said the barney's on the corner would be better for them. I just thought I'd post this as it was something interesting I heard, planning to go the quieter place end of May/early June as the one on the corner is always rammed no matter when i go past.
If you do decide to hit Barneys, The Utopia Haze, Red Diesel and LA Confidential; are the only ones almost worth the euros... they are top smokes but priced too high! Not recommemded to chillout there - feels like a public conveneince stop nowadays... blaze somewhere private and cozy, like homegrown fantasy! Their cheese is the best in amsterdam!
