Yeah, I think the blue one was earlier than 1992 too. I don't have much info but all I do know is here: Mellow Pages editions.

Yeah, I agree... Going off the limited menus, with no sign of anything other than skunk/sensi, and the few dates mentioned, I'd also say 88-90...

...Kinda fun trying to find any tangible clues as to publishing dates... Gives me another excuse to read through the guide...

Genuinely would love to read an autobiography by, "Kip"! :D

In a (failed) attempt to find a picture of the Grasshopper's old illuminated menu, I stumbled across this Alamy page. It has a ton of coffeeshop pics, new and old by the look of it. Only had a cursory scan so far. Gonna fire up a balloon and have a good look now...

Is it the blue one?

https://pbagalleries.com/lot-details/in ... 23%252C180

...That auction site lists it as 1992, but I can't trace a source... Is there an ISBN?
No it wasn’t from the blue one mate. It was from the 3rd edition with the clogs on the front cover and yeah, it certainly does, the ISBN is 90-71081-05-2. Would be great to get proper dates for these guides. The reason I think 1988 is that the last “new” Coffeeshop in the book to open, opened in January 1987.

It's listed as 1987 on the ISBN directory...

...I was also thrown a little by the way the book worded some reviews, especially when mentioning dates, but I guess it makes sense when these guides would have to be relevant for a couple of years, at least.

Not sure how accurate the results are, since another version of the issue with the clogs on the front is listed as 1985 (ISBN-10: 9071081028), and the blue one is listed as 1980 (ISBN-10: 9071081044).
