Bookends- still telling stories with new PICS Sept/Oct 2011

It turns out that I have a shameful amount to tell ya'll about still! I was looking through my images yesterday and I hadn't even edited most of the pictures from the crawl!

My next trip is booked for March 31-April 2, and in the meanwhile I vow to FINISH ALL MY UNFINISHED REPORTS! (Yes, folks, we will even jump into the way back machine to June '10 and hear about my first ever meeting with an stranger I met on the internet. Not to mention you will finally learn who has my favorite Amnesia Haze... )

Next up: the stoned-est fly and buy ever at Katsu, and in an attempt to reconstruct how I got that way, memories of the ACD's best attempt at burning down Club Media.

It turns out that this is my 1000th post- how neat

Now, back to my last trip. October 4th.

What is this and where did it come from? Emptying your bag the morning after an ACD crawl is always an adventure. This bag didn't look terribly familiar. Plus, it was a big chunk of hash. "20E P.N." was scrawled on the bag.


Come on, silly geek, think hard

I pinched a chunk off, pleased at its pliability, and crumbled it easily into the bowl of my curvy little bong. I curled into the massive leather armchair and smiled at the barely brightening sky. The soft snick of my lighter was quickly followed by the soft bubble of the bong.

The smoke was rich and a little harsh. I exhaled it in a chocolaty puff while a clear high quickly lifted me up. Bringing the big block to my nose, I detected a rich menthol aroma with a backbone of dark chocolate. The aftertaste was a bit tin-y and metallic, but that didn't stop me from quickly reaching for the bong to finish the bowl as a very active clear high set in.



I picked up my camera and marveled at the fact that I had no memory of buying such a substantial chunk of hash. I started to line the bags up based on my very sketchy memories from the day before. Basjoes- Mellow Yellow- Club Media "Where did we go after Club Media?" It was all a little hazy... Oh yeah, we were going to Katsu to smoke the Verdamper. This is from Katsu. Now the memory came flooding back. Pollen Nepal 4g for 20 E.

All I could think as I packed another bowl was, wait, why did I buy this???

Hashy 1000th

Really, I'm not usually a size queen, so I found this gigantic chunk of inexpensive hash baffling. I started a pot of coffee brewing, rolled a nice joint of 1e Hulp's Buddha Cheese, and continued snapping pictures of my crawl souvenirs.

I have no memory of what we smoked at Basjoe's. (But never fear, I definitely have lavish write-ups of every variety of James' gear on tap for later, my party peoples, lest you fear that our love affair is over. My love for James is timeless, I tell you. Timeless and shameless.)

Anyway, back to the crawl: Cisco, Gapie, my Mr, Jerelo and I arrived at Club Media after a long stoney stroll through the city with a buy and fly at Mellow Yellow, that I told ya'll about earlier. Two lovely female budtenders were working, and Cisco and I both hung back because we were planning on making multiple purchases. At the recommendation of the pretty redhead, I bought some Champagne Haze, Pot of Gold, and Zootjels Hash. Cisco got some overlapping things, including the Zootjels, which had been enthusiastically recommended.

Everyone had settled around the long rectangular table just inside the door by the time I was buzzed in. I headed for the drink counter to order lattes and water and by the time I was back Cisco had already rolled a joint of something and passed it to me. (Champagne Haze? maybe.)

From there, we really killed some joints. Many joints, which I will try to recall for you because I'm such a nice geek. I know I handed Gapie some of the Cheese and Jungle Nepal Hash from Mellow Yellow to roll early on.

The next morning I packed some of the Jungle Nepal into my bong, after I poured myself a mug of coffee. The sun was barely up and my Mr slept peacefully nearby. It was one of Mellow Yellow's more expensive hashes at 16e/g, but seemed worth it. It smelled like eucalyptus, spearmint, and faint black pepper. It had a lovely pliable texture.

The bubble of the bong on a quiet morning is one of my favorite sounds. The dark spicy pepper flavor with a hint of anise filled my mouth. The smoke was smooth and fragrant when I exhaled it and it hit with a heavy stone that pressed behind my eyes and down on my shoulders. Really nice with the caffeine as a counterpoint. You have to be a real stoner to love this in the morning.

Gapie passed me an unlit joint of Cheese and Jungle Nepal hash. At the same moment the Champagne Haze joint made it around to me again. One of the best things about a toke and talk is having two joints in your hand simultaneously. Grinning, I took a deep hit of the champagne haze joint. It hit smooth with the faint stinging in my lungs from the thc.

I exhaled, savoring the yeasty tart grape flavor and feeling an instant lightening at the top of my head. The taste was lovely, although not the strongest, and I wondered briefly whether my taste buds were surrendering already.

Then I remembered I still had a fat, beautifully rolled joint in my hand. (Gapie rolls the most beautiful joints.) So I picked up the lighter and sparked up the combo of Mellow Yellow’s finest. The tangy cheese and spicy black hash mingled in the most delightful way in the dense, rich smoke. I quickly took another huge hit and marveled at the way the sharp pepper and minty notes cut through the oily musky cheese as the dense cottony stone wrapped itself warmly around my body. This geek loves black hash with cheese and the Mellow Yellow combo was very nice indeed.

I passed the joint along to Gapie, and took a moment to look over the goodies I had just bought from Media. I pulled the Champagne Haze out, and it looked lovely, sparkling with crystals, but it was just a bit less nice than the batch I had smoked in April. It’s smell was a little fainter and it was just a touch less resinous. So, I passed half of it to Gapie along with half of the Zootjels Hash, to roll when he felt like. He had just finished rolling something of his, which I may remember as berry flavored and smooth.

At the same time, I started rolling some of the Pot of Gold and the cheese joint had made it back around followed quickly by another Club Media joint from Cisco. (Hindu kush maybe?) I think there were four joints going for six people, and Cisco had just gotten the black hash and cheese joint when the fire alarm went off for the first time. Of course, no one stopped smoking, but we did half heartedly fan clean air in that direction.

Mmm the Pot of Gold was completely beautiful, and I immediately decided to buy more on the way out. It had a raw funky smell. Like rye grass, caraway, and cherry syrup with a real funky gouda note when I broke a bud open. I rolled the whole gram and passed it to my mr to spark up.

He passed it to me next and it tasted even better than it smelled with a rich skunk and rye flavor that really lingered. The indica stone was a happy warm body stone that wasn’t too demobilizing.

Around this time, the Champagne Haze and Zootjels joint got sparked as well. The Zootjels hash had come enthusiastically recommended by both of the budtenders as well, and I could immediately see why. It had a lovely, almost oily texture with a fresh lemon, sandalwood, and caraway seed aroma. The flavor was rich and spicy with pronounced aromatic sandalwood. And it had a soft cottony stone with pleasant limb heaviness that is so very very nice.

Nice enough that when it got around to Cisco it set the smoke alarm off for a second time. Go ACD! Shortly thereafter, armed with a big sack of Pot of Gold and some more Zootjels, we stumbled on to Katsu.

Thanks I'm glad we have such a great group of stoner chicks too This is the only bb I've ever participated in in my life, and I only got drawn in because everyone here are such nice, fun, interesting stoners. I really hope our paths cross one day, as I am sure we will hit it off!

I’ve decided to throw Coffeeshop Basjoe a proper wake. Every time I sat down to write yesterday, stories of my happy hazy hours with James poured out. While my favorite place in the universe is no more, I will treasure the memories forever. Reading through this report yesterday, I realized that my tribute had really already begun.

Over the next few days I will share some of my favorite memories and complete my final write-ups of Basjoe’s weed. Then, I will look forward to new adventures and the possibility of finding new favorite places. And, of course, finally tell you how I came to purchase an improbably large block of hash.


Basjoe's Amnesia Haze September 2011

There is something poetic to me in Coffeshop Basjoe’s sudden disappearance. Rather than ever disappointing or my ever having to leave it, it is just gone. There is no wearing or fading, just the crystalline close.

“Aaaaammy, you’re back!” James purred and was halfway around the counter for his hello hug before I even made it to the bar. Cisco and James exchanged greetings and he headed off to the restroom.

“Where’s your husband? Are you on your own again this trip?” James walked behind the bar and slid the menu across to me.

“He’s here, he’s just sleeping in. I’m heading back to wake him up and make some brunch soon. We’ll be by tonight to say hello.”

“Good, what would you like?”

“Two grams of your favorite indica right now and two grams of your favorite sativa.”

He smiled. “The cheese is good now.”


Basjoe's Cheese

“Yes, Please!” He started stuffing a large baggie. Chuckling, he flipped the scale around so I could see that it read over 3 g. He passed the bag to me and I buried my nose in it. Inhaling the funky skunk made me giggle. Me eyes me his, “Yum.” I was one happy monkey.

He was almost finished filling an equally large sack of glistening sativa goodness. He passed me the bag, and the intense tart grape and haze perfume sent tingles down my spine. “Amnesia!”

“Jaaaaa… of course.” He turned around and pulled a spa red from the cooler right as Cisco was returning. I headed for a booth while Cisco made his purchase and started to roll a joint of the Amnesia Haze. My only complaint about James’ Amnesia Haze is that it was so resinous it was a challenge to roll, sticking to my fingers and to the paper and every time I licked them my nose was tickled with tart grape, hints of lime blossom, and lavender.

I wish I could remember whether Cisco stayed and shared that joint with me. I think he did or I hallucinated him even coming to Basjoe’s. I am sure that Cisco and I had met up at Voyagers a few hours before and quite frankly the details of that meeting are hazy, except that I enjoyed it. (The Super Lemon, Buddha Cheese, and Silver Bubble we smoked at Voyagers plus whatever he rolled… I recall him having some tasty Amnesia Haze from Eindoven at some point… Hi, I’m geeky and while I might not remember what we talked about or if we even spoke but I will still remember any really good bud you had years later…it’s all about priorities my party people.)

My head was drifting pleasantly and my body warm and loose and tingly twenty minutes later when my mr texted me to let me know he was awake. I was a lucky geek and his timing couldn't have been better, as Amnesia Haze always seems to have um...magically stimulative properties )

I said my goodbyes, paid, and left with my body tingling and my mind full of dirty dirty plans for my Mr.

sigh.. such a good writer. IM just now getting caught up on all my weekend poster. I worked all weekend. I think there is a good chance we will meet up in California since I am out there alot. This year we may go north and south. We have some friends who live south who have been wanting us to come down there soooooo as soon as you know the details of where your going to be, we should talk and get a TnT together in California. lol.
