In all my visits to Amsterdam I have always found the best weed at Grey Area. I sampled a variety of smokes from the menu, Silver Bubble was good, La Confidential was awesome, chocolope was very very nice back up to the standard I had about a year and a half ago. Apollo 13 was a nice uplifting smoke as well. The Martian Mean Green was unfortunately out of stock again, I always seem to miss this strain!
The shop is small and in my many visits I had never managed to secure a seat but this time I was offered a bong by John and managed to find a seat to smoke a few bowls.
When I was in here on my last day buying one of their limited edition Grey Area T-shirts (only 150 ever made) one chap had had a bit too much and flaked out hitting the deck cold. John calmly grabbed 2 sugar cubes and a coke and within a couple of minutes ol' matey was awake being looked after on the floor by a couple of regulars while John casually served me my t shirt and smoke. A very friendly guy who really looks after his customers.

I dropped into Grey area for a second for a reason I cant remember.
It was smaller than I imagined but I wont hold that against it as most of the coffeeshops I visited were the same. The Chocolope Weed was the best tasting weed I had on my trip, but the high was a little weak against the other sativas I sampled, such as Laughing buddah and NYC diesel.
8/10

Thumbs up

HAD to go after I read that Willie Nelson patronizes this spot, figured HE would know.

When I got there, it was uncharacteristically empty, so I scored some blond crystal hash and grabbed a seat.

It was my first full day, my tolerences were low from being stateside. SA_WEETest hash EVAH! YUMMY. Too bad for me it got SUPER CROWDED seemingly instantly, and to boot, a local (I think) raised a stink when a tourist didn't want to share a joint with him. Any level of hostility or raised voices goes a LONG WAY in that small space.

I closed my eyes and rested my head on the table, in a couple of minutes, he was gone, as was the bad vibes with him.

I really liked Grey Area and plan to go back.

Aye the GA is a fine coffeeshop. A lot of people moan about not getting seating, but I have never had a problem since people tend to just come in, sit down for a spliff then leave.

Fine bud, hash and friendly budkeeper :)

HEAVY RAP/COffeeshops

Post by cnmn »

I had a rough time in Amsterdam ...seems most of the shops liked blaring heavy metal rap which is not my thing as I'm more into blues and jam bands...Why the hard stuff so recently??? Hard to enjoy my smoke while covering my ears in pain...

i suppose my review on the "other side" of this site says it all, but even in the years since i posted that the GA has always lived up to its reputation. for first timers this shop is well worth searching out, for the rest of us, well you know...

My GF and I went to GA and were surprised at how small it was. After waiting in line, we just got our stuff and left. We got some Grey Mist, and Chocalope.

I have to say, the Chocalope F'ed us UP. I was perma-fried for the rest of the day after a joint of that stuff.
