Have posted my opinion in the least favorite coffeeshop poll and I stick by what I said, going back in Novemeber and I usually give places a other try but I think I may give it a pass as far as Barney's is concerned. The fact that 30% of the voters agree speaks volumes.
One convenient location... in Africa.

70% does show that some people like it, a majority yes but in other threads about other coffeeshops the like to dislike ratio is alot higher, and from what I have read this is one of the worse but at the same time those who do like it, like it alot.
I for one can see why people dont like it, I dont want to bad mouth anywhere and deter people from visiting anywhere in The Dam but when I have been treated like I was in Barney's I felt I had to bad mouth it.

I used to really like this place myself, but after many, many trips to Amsterdam, you realise that there are better places for food (cheaper too) and even better places for weed out there.
But at the same time, everyone likes different things and different vibes in the shops we visit. Back in the day, Barneys was a regular haunt for me, but maybe I'm just mellowing into a different kinda vibe myself these days and prefer a different ambiance. That's not to say that I wouldn't pop in there now and then, but perhaps more now for the weed, depending on what's hot at the time...
Certainly the food has been quite pricey for what you get, and although by and large, the service I've had there has been fine, there's always gonna be days when you find someone close to breaking point during their working day, and you may well be on the receiving end of the results of this stress build-up. Been there too many times myself. But that's life...
Anyway, I digress - in short;
1) Expensive
2) Opens early
3) Serves food so you can toke and chow down at the same time
4) Not the closest to my usual hotel, so I usually get waylaid in closer venues
5) Ultimately, you pays your money, you takes your choice. If you don't like the place, vote with your feet - there's a huge choice of alternatives, so just move on to the next place!
6) Not my favourite these days, but certainly not the worst I've found!

Just to add to this, Barneys Farm is the coffeeshop while the breakfast bar is getting refurbed.Boner wrote:Barneys Lounge is a coffeeshop.JMey wrote:There’s only one Barney’s CoffeeshopMuphy wrote:which place is it? i didn´t get it sorry
the one near rembrandtplein or one of the two near the station?
It's not the Farm or Uptown
I agree with USBL as well, the Lounge is a nice little coffeeshop in a lovely spot right on a canal.
Being pedantic and knobbish since 1972
