Buying a drink has nothing to do with being tight. Its a case of actually wanting a drink compared to a coffeeshop demanding you buy 1 to stay on the premises. There is a difference. There is nothing tight about giving a coffeeshop 50+ euros for their weed either haha.

It's quite difficult to argue in a language I don't speak well but i'll try to do. what I wanted to say is only that I don't like this policy, can I say what I think?I didn't ask anyone to give me a reason to such a policy or to do something to change it; I wrote my opinion on the topic of the coffeeshop that i think is what this section of the forum is done for. I added too that I did want to buy a cup of tea but only 3 of 5 we were wanted to drink and as they spent some money in weed they didn't want to buy drinks they could buy at the market round the corner saving 2 euro. is that being tight? maybe but not everyone has enough money to do evrything! is that a sin? I apologize in name of my friends. that being said I'm a student and don't have more than 10h per week to work and being paid 6euro per hour I can understand my friend's point of view.

Tight budgets and spending cash sucks, but expenses are part of a vacation. I see you point Colino and partially agree, but this may sound harsh: maybe someone making 60e a week shouldn't be going on a vacation... or a shorter one or less costly one perhaps.

PS: of course you are entitled to share your opinion, that's what this board is here for.

here it italy no one at my age lives without his parent's help as we do not receive a fucking cent as incentive from the gov. luckily enough I live with my parents that can help me with everyday costs so I can use what I earn working to go to amsterdam as I stopped smoking here. Have to do with what I have

but i never had a problem in there ,

dont get yer knickers in a twist ladies not directed to anyone in general , i personally have never had trouble there and i am tight and dont buy a drink

I have also NEVER had a problem with this in here and these recent board forums are the first I have heard of it. Easily been here dozens of times.
Wonderful shop, always super customer service and gear.

So much for the argument that shops need to sell drinks to stay in business. It's about and always has been about - CANNABIS.

Lastly - have any of you (not everyone, just those who know I'm talking about them) EVER thought about what brought on these "shitty policies" in the first place?
Rhetorical question because the answer is an obvious NO given how actions speak so much louder than words.

Your missing the point people are making. Nobody minds buying a drink if they enter a coffeeshop especially when not buying weed in their establishment. It becomes a different story when you do spend so much on weed then still the demands come for you to buy something you do not want.
So buying a drink to keep a coffeeshop happy is a waste of money and the drink. Few euros you say for a drink? Add that up over 2 weeks and 100+ entries to coffeeshops and you will realise that the money wasted would be better spent on their weed and not their way overpriced drinks. More fool the people that give in to those demands.

Near enough every coffeeshop I go to I have bought a drink at the very least so you can judge all you want on people not buying from these places. The only exception is Grey Area as ive never stayed there before, always a buy and fly. But when staying and smoking bongs, joints etc most people need a drink anyways and usually buy 1, it only becomes a piss take when you either have bought weed their or have literally stepped in the door and they demand you buy a drink. What does that say about the place, staff and their friendliness to their potential customers.

Some of you seem to just assume that people go into coffeeshops and dont buy anything. How did that become?

Now I understand why I go in so many coffeeshops and there are near full drinks left on tables

You answered your own question before even asking, because too many people go into shops and don't buy anything.

Just ask the peeps in the shops that have these "shitty" policies why they have them, they will tell you as they've told me when I asked. Too easy...

i am gone i dont like that pushy selling etc...
thus shops are pushy i come there not so more anymore only for the smokeables if it is there
i come to a coffeeshop for the weed and hash
not to drink some beverage orso i can buy that in the supermarket for the half of the price and more like 1 coke is 2 euros and it is 33 cl and in the store is 1 euro for 1 liter coke come on

Many places, not just coffeeshops, have 'house rules' which may or may not suit a particular individual, thankfully in Amsterdam we have a choice of many good coffeeshops to suit everyone.
If we don't like the rules we can easily move on or if that particular place has an unmissable killer weed then buy and fly to elsewhere.
Many bars say no drink = can't use the toilet.
Some coffeeshops have No I.D. = no coffeeshop entry
The Red Light girls say Pay up front or No Entry - apparently
Rules can seem petty and irritating but that's life - don't get hung up on 'em, just keep on truckin'

Like I say I generally always buy a drink not because im asked to but because I need 1 when im in a coffeeshop. I do exactly as Gapie said I am also gone I dont like that pushy treatment either. Ive spent thousands in coffeeshops so im not 1 of those who would expect to freeload in any establishment whether it be at home, Amsterdam or anywhere in the world. I would kick people out too if they refused to buy anything. But I would never make any person feel small especially if they had the decency to walk into my company or work place and they were potentially going to buy something (in there own time without being pushed).
