Damkring 2: This is a truly amazing coffeeshop and for those in the know. Frequented mostly by locals, Dampkring 2 is a far cry form it’s touristy sister shop Dampkring 1: a gaudy attraction that I could not enter because there were tour groups gathered outside blocking the entrance! --- After waking up and taking a refreshing shower, the first coffeeshop on my list that I wanted to visit was Dampkring 2. Dampkring 2 is one of my favorite coffeeshops in Amsterdam for many reasons. The menu that they have to offer has many strains of Cannabis and varieties of Hashish for sale, each one of significant quality. Their prices are fair, and the budtender was very patient and kind when helping me decide on a strain. Wanting to try something new, I chose a strain that I had only read about in message boards and magazine articles for many years: Bubblegum (price between 8-9 Euros as it happens to weigh out at the time). Because it was only 1000 in the morning there was a relaxing and calming effect in the shop as locals came in for their morning joint and glass of orange juice. It was not at all busy and there was plenty of seating available in their numerous rooms and floors. A unique and modern décor gives this coffeeshop a clean and easy flowing feeling and the modern furniture provides calm open spaces as well as plenty of room and comfort. Because it can be a bit busy in the evening, this wonderful Coffeeshop is best enjoyed in it’s early hours, from it’s opening time at 1000 until the early afternoon.

2 questions

1. What time does it open, and what time does it close?

2. Is their internet wireless or at a computer?

It opens at 10am and closes at (i think) 1am.

There used to be computers in there when it was Pink Floyd but there are none now. I'm not sure about wireless.

Actually that's 3 questions.

1a. 10:00
1b. 1:00
2. Neither. DK2 has no internet access whatsoever that I recall, unlike its predecessor, Pink Floyd. Neither does GH so don't plan on any of the big chains on Haarlemmerstraat being internet-accessible. I vaguely recall logging in across the street at Popeye's, so I believe they have wifi access there and maybe, a terminal or two*. Popeye's serves breakfast as well, so you ought to be set. According to the forum map, Popeye's is open from 7:00 to 1:00.

Link to Popeye's

In that neighborhood, the only other cs nearby to have internet access that I remember is Siberie, a block away on Brouwersgracht.

* Just glanced at the Popeye's website and from the pix, it appears that they have a few laptops available for use.
Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

Cheers for the info wong. I just read the first page and saw internet access for 2 euro/hr but didn't realize the post was from 2005 lol.

Sounds good about popeye. Thanks for letting me know. [/code]
