FYI, the DAFT is only for US citizens, and the OP is from the UK. It is much easier for him and his partner to immigrate.

yeah DC...loved living in SF, now live in the Baltic States, which is a nightmare compared to Florida...lol

But, at least I can fly to the dam for 200$, or take the bus for 250$

so everything has its pluses and minuses :D
