For a law change to happen that could over ride this would take years to pass anyway.

You're crazy :D

Why are you so determined for a negative outcome as far as tourists are concerned?
They could do it next week if they wanted. Don't get your knickers in a knot. When did I ask for a negative outcome, don't try to paint me with a red brush. Stopping the weedpass is a negative outcome???

Your also right with the legislation making coffeeshops still able to operate until June 30th 2015. Please show me where in that statement it says the have to continue to serve tourists. That statement has nothing to do with tourists.

Educate me this since you seem to have the answers. In the artilce I linked to above it says that local authorities could not do this now, Butif it were made a national law to keep out tourists it would not contravene European law then they would be able to do this. Then they could make a weedpass if they changed the law. Making the tolerance policy illegitimate towards tourists?

Wow, 21 pages and counting...
A few intelligent comments, a few less than intelligent comments (this one perhaps?), and a bunch of uncertainty.
Funny to read some of the silly-stupid banter, some just to antagonize.
Whatever, next...

Not much to do but wait and see what happens, or...
...argue semantics, split hairs, cherry pick, and basically tear each other apart over word usage.
Stoners, need anymore be said?

People need to chill out, be proactive when possible, and hope for the best.
All the rest is simply a total waste of time, space, and good vibrations... not to mention a buzz kill.

Some make it too easy.
Happy trails...

So the 2015 date seems to be agreed upon

Well my understanding is that they could not do this next week even if they wanted to,
Nowhere does it say in relation to the local government/that they would discriminate non Dutch,
Local government /councils/muncipal,really don't care about European law as they make local policies, and as far as I am informed that most Dutch would be extremely pissed off if the EU tried to dictate how local councils should operate
.
Joossy it would seem imho has a better grasp on these things as compared to others, even with the pack turning on him/her,well done keep it up,as for the rest well it just goes to show ya that stoners can just be as narrow minded and sheep like in behaviour,no doubt they will take comfort in reading the right wing press and tabloids for their further enlightment.

Who's agreed upon 2015?
I do agree that to pass not only this legislation, but any legislation, takes time. What's your point? Next...
You may be correct in your assertion that the policy doesn't have discriminatory language, this was most likely removed a couple of years ago when they failed to gain the support of the EU. I invite you to read/reread the case that was before the European Court concerning this matter. The EU isn't/hasn't/can't dictate anything, sort of like the UN. Next...
A grand assertion that at any level of the Dutch government they don't care about European Law. Seriously? Next...
You were informed that most Dutch would be pissed, really? I think it's safe to assume that most citizens of any country would be pissed. Next...
Everyone has an opinion, some have a more informed opinion, like Nol for instance. He is in the business, so for anyone to come in and tell him (or anyone in similar position) that they don't know what they are on about, or whatever.... seriously? A grasp maybe, but of what? Next...
As for the rest about right wing this and that, again, seriously?
Be careful of which stoners you throw rocks at, some throw them back. Chill a bit on the use of adjectives, just saying...

A proven method of defeating your enemy is to divide and conquer. Twenty one pages worth...
Next..

Yeah but the government is higher then the councils and they have been screaming it

Few people seemed to care when I was in Amsterdam. This is a thread about opinions on the weed pass, why did you read it mate if you don't care about opinions? fair enough, everyone's sick of it. This thread went a totally different way then I thought it would.

Also having an opinion after the weedpass is introduced really won't help will it.

My opinion,Amsterdam will have a stay of execution, but the surrounding areas and border areas will initially introduce it and then change back to basically how it is now,

another interesting link, http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=d84_1308864877

from the above linl you have this,

NO WEEDPASS IN AMSTERDAM FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS!!!!

This is the translation of a letter sent to the coffeeshop unions in the Netherlands, I am proud to translate this good news....

Dear folks,

The big news today is that the new Tolerance Policy will become active from July 1, 2011, and will be valid until June 30 2015(!). The AHOJG criteria are already avaiable on http://www.openbaarministerie.nl The good news is not much is going to change.

The most important conclusion is that the AHOJG crtieria have not been complemented with the Weedpass and the Distance Criteria. Nothing changes in this area. The announced additions will not be part of the national regulations for coffeeshops. This means that all the evil measurements from The Hague, including weedpass and distance criteria, can only be implemented on a local level. This means the weedpass and the distance criteria will probably not make it in Amsterdam. These announced measurements, that would lead to a coffeeshop wipe-out in Amsterdam, can only be implemented through local legislation by the City Council. The City Council already spoke out against the weedpass and the distance criteria, like the Mayor, who will be held to execute and maintain the new Tolerance rulebook. This is also included in the Opiumlaw art. 31b.

Especially the long term of the new Tolerance regulations stands out, 4 years going! This is a first, and appears to be a signal that The Hague decided that de introduction of the weedpass and the new distance criteria and everything else Justice Minister Opstelten comes up with is to be decided on by individual City Councils. The City Council has toe execute or deny new measurements. The Mayor has to uphold the rules in the end. This means in Amsterdam there will be no mayor changes.

The 5 plant rule stays intact.

I salute you,

MR. Maurice Veldman, Legal rep. for the BCD and THC.

Well thats my opinion.Time to spend time on other matters.
