Returned to test another hyped-up strain from across the pond - Casey Jones.

All of these turned out to be some of the best buys of the trip, somehow surprisingly. Didn't except Dampkring to provide such a large share of the top drawer herb from the weekend, but I was wrong!

In the past I've been let down by the menu there being very ordinary.
Whilst it is a fun place to visit and talk to other tourists at the bar I've only bought weed there once and it was pretty average. Ended up smoking something else instead.

went here on more times last week and I've have been soooo satisfied about the quality I found here. I tried many strains and hash and also the bar is quality and more friendly than last times. I tried the Amn/G13 (0.8g for 10E) which was really outstandig morning smoke! powerful sweet high. perfectly cured and packed in crystals 9+/10. I also bought 1.25 g of Sensible for 20E hash, very sweet and fucking sticky riffman hash, it's really crazy good hash but you'll hardly find something, i'd put near the level of reserva x, 9.5/10, my mate too bought a 0.6g of this hash for 10E. I too bought a 0.7 of Grape, nice tasty weed but I don't remember too much of it, for sure sweet taste 8/10. I too bought a 0,66g of Power Plant for 5E which was really smelling good, huge buds. the weed was really nice and powerful and I rate a 8.5/10. Bought also a 0,38g of C5 for 5E, really strong and tasty, 9-/10. My mate bought super tbizla, 0.5 g for 6 euro which was strong and really earthy, great punch 8.5/10 and love bomb, nepali hash for 16euro 0.6 for 10euro, soft and squidgey, nice hash.

Hello there fellow coffeeshopdirect.com members. This is a little bit of a tricky post, because it is my introductory post as well as first review, and sadly what I have to say about the Dampkring really amounts to a cautionary tale. I recently had a trip to Amsterdam, and did quite a bit of research as to which coffee shops had the best reputation, and as I am a very occasional smoker these days, I wasn't planning to spend a great deal of time in any of the shops, so wanted to maximize my experience by finding the very best Amsterdam had to offer. The list I compiled was Dampkring, Grey Area, and the Kashmir Lounge.
On the first night, I visited the Dampkring, and as I was primarily interested in the hash side of their menu, settled on some Nepalese Pollen. When I smelt the hash, it seemed pretty pungent in the right way, and was obviously pliable, as one would expect. I tried one pipe of this, (in a not very clean bong offered by the shop; I had asked to purchase or hire one, but this wasn't possible.) It wasn't quite as good as I expected, but I headed back to the hotel to sleep.
The next day, I noticed that the hash was actually very hard, and not that pliable, so I headed to the Cannabis College to see what their opinion was. As I had suspected, they were less than impressed with what I showed them. Number one, the hash didn't bubble (which as we know, Nepalese high quality hash should) and it also left a nasty black residue on the guy's fingers! He said that sadly Amsterdam is not what it used to be for sourcing quality cannabis, and the only shops he could wholeheartedly recommend to me where Grey Area, Green Place, Voyagers, and Hunter's. The general consensus was that Grey Area was the best of the bunch for quality. He also said that I should take the hash back to Dampkring and tell them I was not happy with the product. I decided to do this, and this to me is why I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone:
To summarize their attitude, I was told that I could have just "picked up a rock from the floor outside and brought that in and said it was purchased here." They said I would have to wait until the girl who served me arrived to sort this out, and they didn't know when this would be.
I was not rude or aggressive in any way to the staff, and one of the members on duty was present when I bought the hash, and seemed to remember me, but they were basically as slippery as teflon. In the end, they took the hash upstairs to the manager, whilst I waited and the outcome was that even though they had received a similar complaint the week before about the same hashish, they wouldn't exchange it or refund me. The go between guy said he was very sorry, and personally wished he could refund me, but the management would not allow this! He offered me the hash back, and I point blank refused to take it, and told him that I wouldn't compromise my health by putting this sub-standard crap in my body, and insisted he keep it! My view really when it comes to any place which deals with the public is that I want to know that firstly they value my custom, and secondly that they won't hang me out to dry if there is a subsequent problem. I'm sure if I had bought something which met the right standards, I would have nothing negative to say about the place, but when the rubber hits the road it is often the best test for any establishment to see their reaction to an unsatisfied customer. The problem with the situation in Holland, as brave a policy as it is and totally worthy of commendation, is the fact that the people who sell the cannabis to the coffee shops are criminals who smuggle it in illegally in the case of hashish. I don't doubt that there are very knowledgeable folk in Amsterdam who run the shops, and plenty of honest shops who would be appalled to hear of my first coffee shop experience, but without an implementation of full legalization and proper quality control, the situation isn't hugely different to other countries who prohibit the use of cannabis. So there you are, that's my sadly negative review out of the way, I have a couple of other review to write here which depict a much more pleasant experience that the one above; Kashmir Lounge and Hunter's were my next stop.

something similar happened to me at Barney whit 5 grams but when i went back ,i freaked out on the asshole budtender!

The hash was 12 Euros a gram, Adamster. Definitely a bit pricey even for something good, but shocking when you consider their terrible customer relations! And good for you for standing up for yourself at Barney's. The guy at the Cannabis College (who said he would be going down there himself to complain about my treatment when I relayed the outcome to him) said that most people would just have thrown the hash away and said nothing. I always work on the premise that the pen is mightier than the sword, and if some of the coffee shops in Amsterdam are going to treat their customers like this then other potential buyers should know what fate may await them. Those shops guilty of this type of petulant attitude will lose their custom in the end, and deservedly so.

Was in here a couple of weeks ago and bought 2g of Rifman Karibi--nice hash but if possible too clean an effect--obviously very pure and nice but I found it was almost a medicinally sterile high---lovely taste and great immediate effect, however the effect you got when smoking it quickly settled into a bright as a button clean precise stone,, never really experienced this before but I think I prefer my stone more cerebral and dreamy

Budtender was excellent, very respectful and efficient, was told to keep cigarettes hidden away but the coffee bar assistant, which I experienced before at the Dampkring 1 -- so it must be a Dampkring thing

I experienced first hand the frankly disturbing videos they play here, when I was in I had to figure out
what it was I was watching, turned out to be a close up of a group of crocodiles devouring a wildebeest, in all its close up gory detail---nope didnt fancy that---another shop I would go to for the nice hash but no sitting in next time

Dampkring Coffee Shop Review, Amsterdam

You will find this place on the short walk from Amsterdam Central Station toward the Jordaan area.

First of all, it's always nice to have a box menu (where you can directly see what herbs and hash are available and inspect them) and the Dampkring has one on the main bar to the right as you walk in. There are small samples of everything on the bar to inspect.

The staff are friendly and welcoming. Informative too.
There are cushioned seats at the back for those who want to stay for a smoke.

The menu is extensive, and one of the things I love about this place is the *rifman* selection of hash, often some very good varieties of afghan gold and cream available here, named after the area of origin.
Unfortunately they are often sold out.

On this occasion I bought Nepal Dream which was €16 a gram. erk! Rip-off.. this is basically Nepal Polm which you can get elsewhere if you look carefully for less than €10 a gram.




I still like the place, however.. even if the hash is overpriced. There are many other things on the menu which seemed quite reasonable and will report back on one of these next time.

GreenCrack is only 9,50e/g and it's fucking excellent, in my top 5 of the buds I smoked last trip

Ouch rip-off fuckers , if 1 of "elsewhere's" isn't HSB (prefer the markt myself ) it should be popped in there for decent Nepal Polm during all my trips over the last 2 years E50 deal (for you & a friend or 2 of course )

On Dampkring , I wanted to try the Green Crack but forgot about it got the Riffman Sunrise , very nice clean smoke , mellow uppy buzz

Can't say anything wrong about this place .

White choco , and Amnesia skunk were both good weeds at really nice prices .
Never smoked a joint in here so dont know about the inside of the place .

Pleasant enough service from the BT until I started questioning him on genetics , they have Master Kush and Bio High Rise on the menu , now afaik they are one and the same genetic (possible that the other wasn't grown bio , if that's what it even means?!) so I said jus that are they not the same genetics ? All he said was "no" but there was defo a shift in attitude and he almost threw my change at me , which I'm sure he made the smallest change possible ! Lol funny as fook
