Cheers Cisco. I reread the post and caught my mistake. I had thought he meant that this was the weight at harvest. This is a mistake that I happily admit to, means more for him. Still some good info though, yes? Yes. :)

Although the gear is in a jar, this can be/is part of the drying/curing process, besides storage, but that's another topic.

I typically cure in glass for a minimum of three weeks. From second hand sources, I've been told that a commercial cure is typically two weeks, kind of short when given a glancing thought, but it does make sense. The gear will continue to cure while being processed for distribution. As some can attest, me included, sometimes the gear gets to the dealer a little quicker than normal, hence some comments on wet gear purchased at a shop. Food for thought.

Looking a little ahead, when is the tasting party ZBeebs?

Happy farming.

The only thing that stops me is finances, little things like a mortgage and paying for the car put a big dent in our finances.

Looking forward to it.
Upcoming trips to the Dam are in early/mid-March, and 4/20 of course. Or if you are ever in southern Germany...

Ain't that the truth, if it wasn't for pesky everyday mundanity I'd be over ever weekend, probably throw a few midweek trips in as well, adulthood don't half get in the way of fun at times

I only grow for myself, as soon as you add dealing into the mix the chance of jail time increases 10 fold.

Apologies to ZBeebs for the hijack, lets get this thread back on track - how's the stuff you cut down doing?

Some soon-to-be-tasty bud in glass; A few plants on the home stretch, maybe another week or so, then TIMBRRR; I love this time of the season.

What's wrong with a little friendly banter while we wait on mother nature to do her thing? ZBeebs, you good?

Growing has it's con's and pro's, getting caught and failure top my list of con's. On the up side, the calming effect that growing has on me, not to mention the astronomical savings (< $0.50/gm), and the feeling of pride and satisfaction that the awesome gear that I'm smoking came from my garden.

Hey ZBeebs, it's been three daze since the last bit of info, what's the deal? Just kidding.
Have you sampled any of the bud in glass?

Happy farming.

I've had the bud in glass for a couple days now, and the amazing smell that it had on the plant is gone...I understand it is releasing chlorphyll and that in some time the smell comes back...If I take a bud out and squeeze it, it smells great. I'm not going to smoke the stuff in the jars for at least another week or two, I have plenty of bud lying around, I'm going to smoke through all of my stash before touching what makes its way into jars.

If anyone is following my curing method with the hygrometers, I have split the 40 grams into two 32oz mason jars. Each has a hygrometer in it. The first batch was trimmed after 3 days drying in my basement at 65 degrees and roughly 40% humidity. In the jar its at 67%, and I've been leaving the containers open an hour or two at a time, trying to get it down to the 60-65 range. I'm probably a day or two away with this one. The second jar was trimmed after 5 days and put in the jar, and the hygrometer in there will read as high as 71% overnight so that jar gets left open longer than the other one. I have considered putting the buds into a paper bag for a bit to speed things up some more but everything I read says that drying and curing as slow as possible yields the best results.

Last night I was doing some laundry and saw that I had dropped one of the untrimmed stems on the floor...there was at my guess two grams of very dried bud on it, probably had been sitting there a week...but it looked good if a bit crispy so I trimmed it up, grinded it, and I'm running it through the vape right now...It's definitely doing the trick! I'm not going to bother hitting this in the bong, it would probably be very harsh and have me coughing my lungs out but through the vape it's smooth, with a hashy taste when I exhale through my nose. I am very satisfied with the result in the vape, it will definitely replace the bud I've been buying at great expense.

Now that I know what a plant that will yield 40 grams will look like, I think that when all is said and done I'm going to have a pretty nice harvest, I see no reason I don't end up with 10 ounces or more (280+ grams), and this is with all the mistakes...planting seeds too deep, blasting them with the 600w right from the start, underwatering, forgetting to swap bulbs for a week after 12/12, some overfeeding, crowding conditions...the list goes on...I bet as I get better, I will begin to get larger and larger yields from fewer plants. I hope I can match these yields or beat them next time, as I will be doing only 4 or 5 plants.

Midzy - you said you were worried about getting busted - I assume the risk here is very low as I didn't register with my real name and my pictures don't contain watermarks that would lead to me? With all the grow journals on sites such as icmag and thcfarmer, I would think there are much, much bigger fish to fry than my single tent and 9 plants. I'm obviously not doing this to sell it, it's all for me!

I don't mind the hijack, so no worries there. What's amazing to me is someone said to sticky the thread, and for me that would be a first, I've never had a thread stickied. I also don't know if I've ever started a thread anywhere that ended up with over 10,000 page views!

Someone else also asked if it would be possible to show an individual plant from seedling to harvest...I haven't been sorting the photos like that, but I think I might be able to put something together...I will try and find time to work on it.

As far as the plants in the tent, two nights ago I flushed another gallon through each of the remaining 8 plants. I will repeat that from now through harvest.

The reason I started flushing already is I was seeing cloudy trichs, and took that as the signal to stop feeding. It was too soon though, and still a few clear trichs here and there and no amber on the buds, only a bit on leaves here and there. I guess I've got another week or two.
Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly?

Hey, nice to hear from you.

Only a few daze in glass, I need to pay more attention.  Never mind the bit about sampling the gear, at least not for another week, maybe two. During the cure, I start sampling small quantities, <0.5gms, after the second week. Part of my process.

"If I take a bud out and squeeze it,...", WTF? Hey, don't play with the bud. :o  Seriously, I recommend not to handle the bud unless absolutely necessary. Every time you touch bud, trichomes break off. Not a myth, a fact. Notice how your fingers are sticky after handling the gear? Simply stated - that's wasted high, depleted potency and all that. I cringe whenever I see people (esp. on video) over-handling bud, on or off the vine. After handling the gear, notice how they rub their hands together, thinking this is good thing. IT"S NOT, unless the intent was to make hash the old fashioned way. What a waste. Food for thought.
Ex. Next opportunity, look into the bud container at a coffee shop, particularly when it's nearly empty. Notice among the organic material there is a quantity of amber-colored material. Want to take a guess as to what this material is? That's right, trichomes, which have broken off most likely because of over-handling (touching, shaking). I might sound a bit anal, but when given some serious thought on the subject...

Good bit out the hygrometers.

Finding gear laying around, oh boy. The list keeps getting longer.

Good luck and happy farming.

Since you are slowly flushing your plants, there should be enough nutrients left in the soil to allow you to go over 2 weeks to harvest. That way you can harvest when the trichs are ready.
