This is not the only non coffeeshop in the review forum. Besides it was started long before they gave up their license. And Lemming doesn't have a problem why should we?
Time to move on Balou, change is an amazing thing, there are also non coffeeshops not in this thread for the simple reason they are not coffeeshops, maybe Lemming should evaluate whether or not this thread should only be for coffeeshops and coffeeshops only, his forum mind you and obviously you have an inside into his mind, your last three words "why should we"tis a simple answer my friend, because we can

To each his own.

The vote at the top shows that the Nes Cafe is almost unanimously popular with posters here. Good enough reason to keep it on?

After some thought, I think having a separate review section for smoke friendly bars might be a good thing. It'd be more current than the sticky and not be so confusing to new forum viewers and those whose first language is not English.

Why not stick in other bars that also allow you to smoke weed

This place has a great laid back and cozy vibe. Dave (DC) is not only a great host service-wise, but quick with a laugh as well.
They've got more than booze here- juices, sodas, etc. And Dave makes a deep rich coffee, as I found out and needed after heading towards "boy with the far away eyes" status following bags and biertjes.

(apologies to the Rolling Stones)
So think of 't Nes as a cozy volcano/verdamper/etc.-equiped toker-friendly establishment that'll set you up nicely with a variety of beverages. Oh, and pool in the back.
cheers

Surely cannabis friendly bars should be thought of in the same light as coffeeshops for review purposes?. If only because you can smoke cannabis in them as most bars don't allow smoking. And besides most cannabis friendly bars are near a known coffeeshop anyway and coffeeshops are often rated based on it's ambiance with smoking gear from other places as much as bought in a particular place etc. If there ever comes a point where there is a good rated more than say, I don't know 20+? known smoker friendly bars then yes, a dedicated section I'd go for. Until then I don't feel there is enough or enough known smoker friendly bars to justify a new review section for those who like a beer with there joint. I can only think of several to hand, NES, Ricks, Suzies Saloon, a bar by 240, Hill Street Blues (from this month?), a Green House (I think) bar on Warmoesstraat, a bar by Voyagers, a bar opposite Grey Area?, Excalibur.

I agree that smoker-friendly bars ought to be reviewed under the coffee-shop banner for precisely the reasons you outlined. I personally have the best of times at smoker-friendly bars (my favourite being Greenhouse Effect situated next to the coffee-shop of the same name on Warmonstraat).

That is roughly my itinerary for the average trip!

The bar by 420 is the Bottle. Hill Street Blues is now Hill Street Booze. Greenhouse Effect has a bar just opposite HSB. Batavia is the bar by Voyagers. And the bar opposite Grey Area, Thirsty Dogg, closed ages ago.

stopped by last night for a beer and a joint in a change on scene from the doors palace where i normally frequent, sadly once ordering and taking a seat in Nes i looked around and noticed the lack of ashtrays and just the lack of people smoking, apart from in the front outdoor area, which was packed.
I asked the bar man if it was still allowed to roll and smoke, he replied telling me they had sadly received another fine for smoking, so it's not even a case of being sly with your tobacco, he told me if i wanted to roll a joint it had to be pure and he would have to stand and witness me roll.
Sadly this killed my buzz for the place, so i didn't bother rolling a joint, it seemed like a hassle for the staff. I did chat to the barman about the situation and i really do feel for them, it is almost as if they are being directly targeted as this is the second fine for smoking and they also got a fine for having a few seats outside the bar.
this is a terrible shame and i really hope it is not the start of the end for smoke friendly bars
