Re: Utopia
Coffeeshop Utopia
Thursday, 12 April 2012:
In the afternoon on the day before I was scheduled to fly back to the USA, I attended a pre-planned Toke-and-Talk session at Coffeeshop Utopia located at Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 132, just a few steps away from the local Police station and the Church of Scientology.
The video opens with exterior shots and street scenes from the sidewalk in front of the shop. Entering the bright and cheerful lounge and gallery, I pause to take a look at the house rules as they are posted at the entrance. Since the shop is also an art gallery, you'll see some examples of the art on display and for sale. You'll also get a look at the members of our little group of T&T participants as we enjoy the ambiance.
Moving to the dealer's booth and service counter at the back of the shop you'll get a view of the length of the shop and through the large front window as cars, bikes and trams pass by on the busy Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. After looking at the menu, the budtender, Ingi, lets me have a good look at some of the better quality products as I am granted unprecedented access to document the shop as it appeared in the spring of 2012. Finally, you'll get to watch as my order is weighed out on digital scales.
The original music is performed by Kevin MacLeod and it is provided royalty free from http://www.incompetech.com/

Re: Utopia
Nice one DRA, some tasty stuff on the Utopia list around 4/20 when I was there and thankfully sampled myself a selection of nice gear for sure.
Good to hear plenty of real live coughing in the background with those 'killer' hits
no free downloads of those to be sure.
Keep up the good work fella.
Compliments from RTnB - (and to Utopia crew too)

Re: Utopia
@nel z bub: Thank you! I am happy you're pleased with the final product. I regret that it has taken so long to get the raw footage edited and put together. I certainly was happy to have the permission to shoot video inside the shop and Ingi's warmly welcoming hospitality was greatly appreciated when shooting the scenes from the dealer's booth.nel z bub wrote:@DRA- That's a great video, cheers mate!
I am looking forward to a return visit in the not-too-distant future.
This is a classy shop and deserves more recognition.
Thanks again!

Re: Utopia
Nice Video DRA. Very cool. Would love to see these on a regular basis. Would be so cool if they let coffeeshops advertise. I'd imagine an ad to be just like that.

I have posted several videos from my various trips to Amsterdam over the years and most of them wind up being age restricted. It's very frustrating.TwoCanucks wrote:just another case of "the man" trying to hold us back
