Any updates? May will be here before I know it :D
It was still closed last week with no signs of opening soon. Renovations in Amsterdam take a long time so it being open in May is doubtful.

Peace

I was at Sanementereng last week and I spoke with the owner. She told me that she will re-open her coffeeshop next year, as soon as the renovations are finished. Woohoo :D

Any chance she'll be a little early as in October/November 2012?

I had to move my trip from May to October due to circumstances beyond my control.

Had a lovely conversation with Edith today at the antique market where she is currently set up. She said that construction on Sanementereng was coming right along and she was really hoping to be open by April 20th. Not quite a done deal, but she really needs your business and will make every effort to be open by then. She also mentioned she may not be able to get her license renewed for 2014 because of the new 250m distance from school criteria. That will affect other shops in that neighborhood like Biba. So, I hope that deal falls through like the weed pass did. GO EDITH!!!

Fantastic!!!

Great to hear there's something actually opening in the Dam, rather than the usual closures.

Can't wait to go try it out in July... Not the most inviting decor, but the Nederhash and the Isolator look like reasonable deals...

Thanks for the update... Looking forward to a review.... Anyone?

queensday 2013 Sanementereng opened their doors again, as coffeeshop Mr. K.
Its still owened by the same people, so you can still find the old lady their.
It has a friendly welcoming atmosphere, but the interior is very different. The old antiques arent al over the place anymore but you can still find it hidden in the corners.
Its very different from the old place but still worth a visit when you are in amsterdam.

Sanementereng has opened their doors again, it now go's by the name Mr. K.
But its still runned by the same owners. The old woman is still their. The cat is still alive but not in the coffeeshop anymore due to old age :)
most of the antiques are gone but it still has a good vibe and you should definitly go by when you have the chance
