I'm no expert in NL or AMS politics. Perhaps the passivity can be explained by the fact that members of this site are not NL/AMS residents or voters. I'm surprised that the names of those who want to change AMS weed laws aren't mentioned. If they are elected officials, then maybe the voters can vote them out. If they are not elected officials then heaven help us. How does that happen? And I wouldn't know what to boycott.
easy as pie.. google dutch companies and you find a big list of companies to target

Maybe it would be a good idea to discuss what we can do to help. The idea of writing a letter is a good one if enough people do it. Maybe some kind of Facebook campaign page?
If the ban comes in and is enforced then it will not be so easy to dismantle the framework of oppression. Remember there is an industry involved with suppression, enforcement and punishment. These industry leaders are a strong and established group. Much more powerful although somewhat less numerous than stoners
Any physical protest needs to be Dutch driven IMHO
IMHO a better idea than a protest would be countermeasures pushed through the usual channels by an established industry. There needs to be an industry driven response before the general public can join in besides letter writing and discussing strategies on forums like these.
In the end the industry will only gain legitimacy by paying politicians. ie - lobbying. This costs a lot of money.
Anyone willing to volunteer?

letter writing will do nothing in my opinion. these assholes are bullies that want others to live their lifestyle as opposed to us who want everyone to be able to live their own lifestyle. don't want to smoke weed or go to rld l then don't. just stay the fuck out of my way. the only way to deal with bullies is by force and doling out some punishment. boycott ..protect the coffeeshop real estate from changing hands is the only hope i see. otherwise like you said once gone it is gone because the framework will be in place. will innocents be in harm's way ...sure.. freedom costs . perhaps besides trying to lower revenue for these dutch companies we can ,also, donate a bit to help the needy dutch.i would gladly donate 100 bucks a year to the coffeeshops to allow them to hold their real estate.. give 100 a year to support their needy and relentlessly boycott the dutch products while spreading the word. at least if we get fucked over i can take pleasure in punishing the mother fuckers who tread on us.. it would be remarkably easy to help the coffeeshops and punch the dutch industries in the nose if stoners joined forces worldwide. there are a fuck of a lot of us from all income levels. even if it failed to change their mind i would continue to punish them for years to come to discourage others from pulling similar shit. we are weak because we allow ourselves to be weak. i would make sure we exacted some regret from the cds. marco, says they don't care about the losses . that is because tourism is no big part of their economy. i guarantee if unilever had a 10 percent revenue drop and people started pulling cash from ing and putting it elsewhere they would not like that one bit. i kind of like what the one guy said about getting some friends together and going on drunken benders in the dam. see if they find that preferable to us as subdued stoners. the city i like to call the most magical place on earth being destroyed by religious fools.. saddens me greatly and makes me very very angry

also, it can be as simple as this.. high times lists companies to boycott INDEFINITELY . calls on stoners to make a stand. send letter telling dutch govt we plan to target your industries for unnecessarily targeting the weed tourist.. have a donation address to support the coffeeshops that they are trying to force out so they can essentially steal their real estate on the cheap. get some cannabis friendly performers to stage benefit concerts for the cause and coffeeshops..tell george soros .. you want to advance the cause of drug legalization . well, here is a model that has worked wonderfully. donate to save the model the that shows that legalization is the way to greater freedom and actually shows harm reduction .. easier than we think. we are a large and powerful group. if we want to be.. the big if from what i see on this site

Dutch companies have nothing to do with this. THis is destined to fail as it punishes the wrong people.

I might be with you on this one, Marco.
While it has its place (mostly symbolic) boycotts seldom achieve the desired effect.

Piper i love your attitude but still me and other people here seems doubtful about the boycott idea. Netherlands are very far away from an ideal target for a boycott (low manifacture and mostly for specialized goods).
Shell Oil Company can seem to suit but it's too big, part of the oil cartel and their market is a cross-party: we can only scratch their profit at our best.
IMHO we forgot that the power of politicians is the pubblic opinion. if we find a way to relate with it (expecially with the "enemies") in a constructive manner everything can happen to the weedpass project, even a loss of support by the same voters of the actual government.
But we must also remember that only a ducth antiprohibitionists can show us the best way to do that cause in this process you have to relate with their culture, ideals etc.

What a load of rubbish.
Although I might be inclined to think a letter may not do much, especially if just from a handful of people, but if you don't even try then of course nothing will change. What a lazy attitude to have.
What's so wrong with at least trying to let the Government know we have a voice too?
treetop - would love to start a FB campaign but I work in a job which requires police clearance so I'm really sorry but it wouldn't be wise for me to start it, I'm sorry. But I think it's a great idea and would be happy to join/like the group if someone else can get it off the ground.

it would be nice if you provided some rationale for your thoughts.. like marco clearly disagrees but offers counterpoints.. you have offered your opinion but i see no attempt at reasoning behind it.

i tend to watch the business channel way too much as i have grown old and boring i imagine. from espn to cnbc . from sports page to business page. do you follow business at all. did you ever see the reaction the stocks of companies if they miss estimates by like 2 cents per share or some small amount. they take a hit sometimes. 10 to 15 percent hits if the shortfall is kind of large. i understand that when michael phelps was dropped by kelloggs for smoking a bong at a party(rather getting photographed doing it) there was a boycott for a month or some such shit. they lost revenue and the impact was noted. it was only a temporary boycott but it did make a point. i dont buy kelloggs shit to this day( and it is hard as they have many subsidiaries etc). if every stoner thought like me i can bet kelloggs would earn less revenue because of it and might regret their decision. you all underestimate the power of a large group. as i said before look at the power wielded by the jewish lobby in america , the mormons, the gay and lesbian alliance( all minorities who exert a disproportionate amount of influence i believe) . look at the US . how many people are for legalization of weed . lots.. almost half and they still allow a slim majority( arguably) to deny their right to smoke. why. because the youth dont vote in great numbers thus do not maximize their voice.
