On the 18th of April Arjan and a legal team of 4 lawyers were in court claiming the new legislation proposed by the Dutch State, that would ban tourists/foreigners from entering cannabis coffee shops, is a violation of the Dutch constitution.

On 28 april at 10 am the court will make a decision, even if they make a negative ruling, with this advice the government will not be able to pull through there plans.

Just coming back from Tilburg I asked three shops I visited about the situation. Most of them aren't optimistic only one is expecting somewhat of a change from this hearing at the court on upcoming friday.

Despite all the posts about it in the meantime(potential new elections, hearing at the court etc.)I`m more or less convinced it's coming.
Hopefully time, 'justice', luck or whatever proves me wrong

Surely this is great news? It'd be a pretty hard sell for anyone trying to get elected that they still intend to wipe millions of tourist euros off the books just to satisfy some hidden, right-wing fundamentalists! As someone may have said before, they might be given financial incentives to ban the sale of cannabis, but that won't fly with the voters who just see millions of euros pumped in to a legal clampdown whilst millions of tourists suddenly disappear along with their cash. ...Ours should be a pretty easy case to make... Or am i missing something? ...I'm not that bright!

The ultimate goal is to close all coffee shops, the weed pass is just a (slower) means to an end.
The proof or resource I was asking about was in ref. to moving shops outside of the city. I thought perhaps you had a source.
There is no subsidizing or locking of real estate or devaluing...
I think in recent years the value of real estate in Amsterdam has been at an all time high, and will continue to climb. \
Look at the selling price of a canal house 10 years ago, less than 500,000. Today, good luck with finding one for under 1mil...
No real estate problems because of shops being closed, just the opposite.
Watch and see how quickly the spaces are taken over where all of the Rokerij shops were located, esp. the one on the corner of Haarlemerstraat.

The end is near for the coffee shop culture as we know it. I don't like it, you don't like it, but it is reality.
One last tid bit..... Some here need to be reminded that they aren't Dutch, it's not their country, and maybe they should turn their focus and energies in changing their own country.

If a majority of a society doesn't want cannabis, stop trying to force them to accept it.
If a majority of a society wanted cannabis to be legal, it would, all things considered.

ok uncle ron ,again, thanks for response. our debate on "locking up" real estate reminds me of the cool hand luke video you put up earlier in the thread. let me try again because i am not sure by your response you understand what i am saying in that regard. i am saying that the government hopes by kicking out foreigners , limiting amount one can buy per day , limiting shops to a certain amount of customers and discouraging customers by forcing registration, that the coffeeshops will become unprofitable and will have to go bk and close. they would have to then give up their lease, sell their real estate or give up license and start a new business.. i am saying through benefit concerts, george soros types who favor legalization, and coordinated donations from stoners you subsidize the individual coffeeshops or at least some in the most prime of real estate . like as in coffeeshops say "hey , we dont have to go bankrupt because we get this extra funding. we can stay in business even though we have very few customers and should go out of business in traditional scenario. now we can keep the coffeeshop and the license and are open for business for as long as we get our donations, subsidy for the stoner community and benefactors" see you are now allowing a bunch of unproductive coffeeshops to retain their presence and allow a bunch of unproductive real estate to sit in hollands prime locations in the hopes that they will eventually change the law back so that they can go back to business as usual and we can withdraw our financial support and allow them to survive on their own again.. secondly, your statement about trying to force cannabis on the majority of society of society that does not want it is kind of off the mark. i would say the right to ingest into your body what you want is pretty much a fundamental human right. would slavery have been voted down in a majority rules vote, how bout interracial marriage, gay marriage ,right to abortion ,right to burn US flag etc.our civil liberties should never be put to the vote of a usually stupid majority.
