Coffeeshop: De Dampkring
Date of visit: 11/19/2006
Rating: Liked the shop!
Now I really liked this shop. It was definitely cool experiencing this unique Coffeeshop. The décor is awesome. The place was bouncing with business. I was very impressed with the variety on the menu and with the explanations they gave on each product. It was here I found one of my favorite weeds of the whole trip. I purchased 1.5 grams of Hawaiian Haze. It had a wonderful smell and gave me a great trippy high that was perfect for wondering the nearby museums.

Was busy (monday night around 9) so I only went for a fly-n-buy. Their extensive menu could potentially lock me down for a day if I had the money...

DAmpkring appears to always be busy. Probably because of Oceans 12. They do have an extensive menu. Annoying how you can end up seeing the same menu about 3/4 times in a day in different coffeeshops

Cool design!

Just had third week long visit to A/Dam in last 5 yrs and after visits to many c/s this is still my favourite. Great selection available, not too expensive and consistant quality. After reading others opinions maybe weve been lucky as always seating to be had and always friendly budtender/barstaff. This time tried their Amnesia Haze and Rifman Noor, both quality smokes. I preferred the rifman noor to the nepalese temple ball from WW's haarlem although more expensive similar but better high/buzz. Only gripe with this place is in May '04 was denied access one day as they were filming some fooking movie!

Ocean's 12 is a crappy movie and so is the service inside of this crowded coffeeshop. Their gear is just fine, but I would rather go to the smaller and more friendly 2ed kamers. I got the 3rd degree for wearing a hat and glasses after waiting in line. Far be it from me to keep my head dry and to wear corrective lenses, what a joke. Mark me down for a thumbs down.

I'd wanted to find this place as I'd checked out this site before my trip and found it had a lot of good reviews and was a place for both drinking and smoking.
The friend I was with was not much of a smoker, but enjoys his beer so I wanted somewhere we could both indulge. This was back in April last year.
I didn't know about the Ocean's Twelve thing, even having watched the film not long before travelling. Shows how good a film it is that I didn't even remember them being in Amsterdam. I noticed when I picked up a lighter from them.
Regardless, the place was busy. There were possibly 2 or 3 people in front of me to buy weed, and it took a few minutes to get served at the bar too. This was the first coffeeshop I'd been in, and the guy at the counter suggested I try the pure weed pre-rolleds. I think he sensed my inexperience in the CS environment, but at least he didn't try and sell me something really expensive. Shame he sold me 3 joints that I ended up only smoking half of. The first one was pretty badly rolled, I could barely get a puff without having to light it again, and even then it wasn't much of a good draw.
The 2nd one, which I smoked later in another shop, was a little better, but still not getting me high at all. I'd went for pre-rolled for the ease, but at I'll admit I missed the ritual of rolling my own and at least if I do it and it's rubbish, I only have myself to blame. Will probably go back if I'm in the area again, the decor was pretty fantastic. If it's quieter it would be a good place to spend some time. Will be buying a gram of weed or maybe hash looking at their selection this time though, no pre-rolls!

I visited the Dampkring twice on my recent trip to the Dam. It was the first coffeeshop i entered when i got there as two of my friends were already waiting there for us. Quality of the weed there was very good with the amnesia haze(11€/g) being one of, if not the best smoke of the trip.
I was disappointed however, to be told that the Dampkring does NOT have a vaporizer for your use, when it clearly states on the main ACD site that it has a volcano. I wonder if anyone can help me with this confusion???
Apart from that tho, weed gud, prices gud, atmosphere gud.

Loved this place, first coffeeshop I ever visited in Dam.
Went in September 2006 and got 1g Super Silver Haze and 1g NYC Diesel, Cost around 18 euro or so and lasted the entire five day trip with a couple of spliffs extra. American guy serving was very friendly, was a bit overwhelmed about the selection of weed on offer and the situation of just walking into a coffeeshop and buying weed. He pointed me in the right direction of two quality smokes. The Super Silver haze tasted brilliant and was a very head high, ended up talking to the ducks on Vondel park for a few hours and a heron came to say hello, perfect start to the holiday. The NYC Diesel was a very, very strong but energetic high, had a very distinct taste, certainly know where the name comes from. Had us stuck in on a bench next to a canal for a few hours because we didn't know if we were able to stand up without falling in it, we made it in the end though.
Went late March this year, the shop was crowded so I only bought and went to the more secluded hotel I was staying at, so impressed with last years experience I made it the first stop again. Got served as soon as I got to the bar, the guy serving me was a bit light on conversation but it was rammed so it was understandable. Got some Riffman Noor hash, a gram of Mako Haze and a gram of Mr Nice Hashplant/G13. The Noor was my favourite smoke of the trip, an amazing high spent a couple of hours speaking to myself in the mirror telling myself how amazing the smoke was, very strong stuff. The Mako haze was a bit harsh but a great smoke, was impressed with the Mr Nice but can't remember much about them. Both were a tiny bit dry for my liking, I like the weed to be a tad more sticky when I tear it apart, means you get more for your money though so it's fine by me.

Here we bought THE weed of our trip.
NYC Diesel for 8,5€/gr. (which is very cheap) and it blew us away.
The shop itself has a nice interior. The different floors are cool to chill out and be alone for some minutes
Bought there some Nevils Haze which was OK too and Super Silver Haze for 10,5€/gr. which blew us away as well.
Great shop!

I was very pleased at my last visit this weekend. We took a seat at the bar and i went to the counter. The menucard was fuller than ever before i think.
I choosed for us a prerolled Moonshine Joint(8€), 1g Super Silver Haze(10,50€) and 1g Rifman Zora(13€). We ordered us a apple- and a orangejuice. the orange one gave me kicks, very fruity. At first we tried the prerolled Moonshine and, what should i say. It kicked us in very high spheres...WOOOOO-HOOOOOO!!!

The music pumped through our whole bodies.
Then i wanted to check the weed. The Silver Haze was chrystalcovered and very fruity, not like the orangejuice, but ok...
On the Botel we tested the Rifman Stuff. I never had such a sticky, caramel-like hash in the hands. Very nice. I rolled one joint and the taste was like flowers with a heavy high!
Next Day, Rifman was gone at this time, we went again to the Dampkring. I choosed from the weed 1g John Sinclair(10€) and 1g Super Tbizla(11,50€). This stuff was ok, but not good as the gear before.

Elitist? Well, maybe a little. Excellent gear, mind. I almost always stop off to buy here.
Not the sort of place you expect respect for entering screaming 'Brit tourist'. Let's not forget, though, these people are sick of self-titled 'seasoned' stoners coming over to their city, lording it up, taking three pulls on a decent joint and falling in a canal.
If, however, you are a seasoned stoner, can demonstrate that you know what you're looking for and how to behave appropriately, and don't behave like a typical Brit abroad, you will be just fine.

over the course of my small trip to the dam i think I bought John sinclair, melana creame, amnesia haze, mako haze and possibly the g-13 and everything was A+. these were mostly bought in the recently taken over pink floyd cause yi can get a seat in there! the main Dampkring was always way too crowded whenever we went.
