I've only been to the one Korte Koningsstraat. I like to bring visitors there because it's in a really beautiful, relaxing spot and the window on the canal is the best thing that's ever happened to a hot day. Throw in all the boardgames they have and their friendly budtenders, and you have the perfect ingredients for a fun, chill afternoon.
Have been there a few times to have the Temple Ball. I didn't think it was as special as everyone promised it would be, but it still delivers a pleasant, clear high so would occasionally get a gram.
Went there last August to celebrate getting a tattoo, treated myself to 5g of the Silver Haze on the dealer's recommendation. It was the strongest weed I've ever had in my life (and quite distinct from the Super Silver Hazes that are around) - got so high from a
small pure spliff that I was twitching and laughing hysterically. Some friends were teasing me about being a lightweight, but when they tried it they were all floored by it as well. These were all people who live in Amsterdam/work in a coffeeshop/smoke everyday.

I had the bag hanging around for a few weeks because I was almost afraid of how strong it was! Definitely good value for money, lol... but have been afraid to try it since!

I was here the other day with a friend. Yes, it is now called "Solo".
Same font so I didn't even notice the name change right away.
And yeah, I think they have gone solo in terms of ownership, thats what the "bubbly" Dutch woman said.

I'm genuinely looking forward to visiting Stix (or Solo) on Korte Koningstraat in a couple of weeks time. Love the Nepal from there and the Caramello too, never tried the Wiet though. Not overly keen on the branch on Utrechtestraat because of those hideous wooden benches and the size of it. I used to grab a hotel there in my earlier visits so it was a bit of a haunt for me, but always seemed very claustrophobic. Way too small. Always found the staff to be cool in both branches though.
Sorry if my street spellings are off I couldn't be bothered checking them on google maps, they're from memory and I hope you get what I mean.

When I went to Stix last month we needed a place to sit and roll up before our walk. So we bought our goods went to sit down and was told we needed to buy a drink to sit down, was pretty disappointed as I just bought plenty of weed and the place was completely empty. Hopefully Solo won't enforce the same thing as it is kind of obnoxious, I don't mind buying a drink but when I'm not thirsty and were literally sitting down to roll and leave it was unappreciated.

I think CSs should let it slide if you buy at least a gram of weed and there are tables empty.
I understand if not the situation, business needs to make money.
btw Solo have a huge flatscreen TV for the world cup. Good place to go that is central but not rammed like other places.

That has never happened to me in any CS, but if it did, even though i am very polite, i would tell her-him to fuck them selves.

First time in Solo, can't believe I've never been. Tried the Purple, a nice clean high. Will definitely be back on my next visit.

Was back in Solo (formerly Stix) a few weeks ago and as always, was very happy. What a nice relaxed vibe....no over the top this or that, no silly theme and best of all, no stoned a-hole at the counter. Just good people and good weed. This is the kind of place I wish I had in my own neighborhood. Tried the Twizla...loved it and bought 5g for the road.

all this explains why recently I rode in the pouring rain for what seemed like an eternity looking for the legendary Temple ball from 'Stix' and gave up on the fourth or fifth circle of the canals as I was still looking for a Stix name above the door, what a bummer, its nice modern frontage if that helps anyone else looking for the old Stix bar front and is about to give up (like I did, kicking myself now)...

Just back - and Stix Utrechstraat is fine - turned up about 8pm and bought some Bio Purple for 8 E a gram - cant roll , so bartender did one for me and several others also. Love the quality of it all - yes wooden seats from a ram , but cosy and very local and uber-friendly. Went several more times , just a quality niche smoker place with great staff and good choice , always weighted out.

The only issues I have with the Utrechtsraat version is the bench seat rows, and the fish bowl effect. Maybe it's paranoia but the windows are big and everyone peers in at you as they pass by*. Oh and the illuminated menu box thing caught me out first time.
The 'solo' version near Basjoe is right up there with the best shops though imho. Very friendly, not too busy, great views form smaller windows
* yes. you're right. it's paranoia.
