Hey Ron.
I beleive that there has been a change to the plan. The Hestia Cup will be kept by the winning coffeeshop and a new one will be presented each year. I have agreed to supply said cups.
The winning coffeeshop nor the year is on the plate because when I had it made in March I thought we would use the same cup year after year. See new plan above. To have the winners name inscribed the plate will need to be made in Holland the day after the votes are counted, this will have to be set up by someone there.
As to the actual wording of the inscription for the future cups I shall do my Queens bidding

Alrighty then, if no objections, I will acquire the brass plate with a proper inscription and present it to James. If all goes well, I will post pics soon after.

Here's a mad idea, how about we leave it how it is ....with the fun element of the whole thing still intact.

I feel that the cup that we presented to James should be left as is. It was the first presented, which makes it unique (inscription included) in and of it's self, and should remain as presented. Plus, James has sealed it into a class case which, I am fairly sure, he would not like to break open to have his unique inscription plate replaced.
Since it is called "The Hestia Cup", I believe that the final wording of any future inscriptions should be the decision of....you guessed it ....Hestia.
Personally, I would like the inscription to stay as it is, with the addition of the year....keeping the plate, with the addition of the year, makes it a whole lot easier for me to order a few in advance with plates mounted. Who really wants to run around on the 21st of April ordering, picking up and installing the plate with the winners name on it? Please note the word at the begining of this paragraph....Personally.
This is my opinion but, of course I shall abide by my Queens bidding.

well i finally had the chance to try the g13 haze which has been out of stock whenever i have there before ... but happily last tuesday it was in and i got a couple of nice little buds totalling 2 grams ... i found it to be a lovely strong smoke, the strongest of their hazes, but perhaps without as much flavour as their amnesia haze, my usual smoke at basjoe

and as luck would have it on my last day and just when i had run out of papers and weed and hash all at once, i had the chance to try some heaven haze in a pre-roll which james had just rolled up ... this smoke filled the last chunk of time before i had to get on the train at amsterdam centraal ... the pre-roll contained more weed than i usually roll in one of my smokes, so i had to light it twice in the end and when combined with a few more pages of bruce chatwin's songlines, it was just the right smoke to end the trip

and btw the cup looks nice on the wall and james is really proud of it ... it makes him smile

Mini Basjoe trip report...

I figured since the 21st of May might be the last day of our existence, it would be a good day to get totally wasted at Basjoes. As if I needed a reason to get baked... After a 7hr train ride, I was more than ready to get Terminated.
Upon entering the shop, I took notice of the cup and I have to say that it looks right at home.
After giving and receiving the salutation of the day, James handed me a pipe containing a sample of what I call mystery hash. I call it that because he wouldn't tell me what it was. Always a treat.
I smoked a little G13 and glad that it was only a little. Man this stuff is strong, some of the most potent gear I've had in Amsterdam. Nice looking gear, crystals sparkling in the light, and the smell was intoxicating all on its own. The taste wasn't bad although I was expecting a little more considering how nicely it smelled before burning. The buzz hit me within 30 seconds, which is a benchmark of sorts for me, creeper weed notwithstanding. It was like getting hit with a velvet cushion stuffed with rocks.
I also sampled some Bas Special which looked pretty good. Although not the best "special" I've had, it was still better than some C/S's top-shelf gear. Not a fact, just my opinion.

Hey Boner,
The simple answer is that the RT ticket cost me E103.50, somewhat on the expensive side.
If I plan well in advance (online res. maximum of 92 days from departure date), I could buy tickets as cheap as Colina was able to, E58.50, which BTW is the lowest price I have seen so far this year, and matched last years lowest. Other factors include the type of train (CNL, ICE, IC, EC, RE, etc...), the time of day (AM/PM rush hours are more expensive), day of week (Friday through Monday is typically more expensive), and holidays. Basically, midweek travel is the cheapest.

Do I stop somewhere overnight? No, I don't. Don't see the need to. Read on...
I have traveled on the City Night Line (CNL) but that tends to get quite expensive. I recommend that if one can afford the price, reserve a sleeper when traveling alone or as a couple. Traveling in the cattle car (open wagon) can be an adventure, but it also can be a nightmare. Ever share the same wagon with 20+ migrant farmers who hadn't bathed in days, maybe weeks? I have, and it makes me feel a little ill when thinking about it.
I've paid as little as E90 RT for a seat in the cattle car, and E179 for a sleeper w/out toilet (per person based on double occupancy). A sleeper w/toilet and shower typically cost more than E300 per person. Five star prices for at best a two star experience.

Regardless of the price, when I arrive in Amsterdam, more specifically when I arrive at Basjoe, it's worth every penny spent.

What can I say about Basjoe's that hasn't already been said...there's a reason why this shop won the 420 cup. First theres James. What a super fellow he is. I've never gone here and not had great serivce. the shop is clean, this includs the bathrooms as well,( also there easy to get to). There smoke is most usually top line gear,and the out side seating is a wonderfull place to sit and get a buzz and people watch....As I said befor......there's a reason why Basjoe's won the 420 cup....they deserved it !!

Regardless of the price, when I arrive in Amsterdam, more specifically when I arrive at Basjoe, it's worth every penny spent. Happy chillin' at Basjoe...
