So, Phantoms became The Coin and The Sower coffeeshop and bar. Later, The Coin became Hunter's No. 37 and The Sower became Hunter's Vodka Bar. Then both closed.

Planeet became Papillon.

Smokum became Everyday People, which closed long ago. I found a note saying it might have been called Snoopy at some point too.

Nice to add Bulus, Club 237 and New Key West to the Directory too.

It's a shame I couldn't find a way to search the address for old business names rather than using the business name to find the address. Could find a lot more incarnations of coffeeshops from the past.

Just like this one I found of closed Coffeeshop Wolkewietje, it was called Coffeeshop La-Stonato at some point. The directory has it down as also being previously called Dutch Dream. So perhaps before Dutch Dream, Lemming?

I think the lost shops I miss the most are probably Homegrown Fantasy and Pink Floyd. Loved the pre-corporate versions of Barney's too.

As described here, I'm working on a new version of the ACD where shop history will be more prominent so any info anyone can get to me will be very helpful.

I was thinking earlier about the 'free rizlas in coffeeshops' thing. Is that still 'a thing'? Cant say I ever take much notice as I always bring my own but I don't remember seeing those dispensers in coffeeshops much anymore.

Have enjoyed reading this thread lots of old memories about trips with friends.
The shops I’ve missed the most would be De Graal which was a must visit after reading about it on this site.
Homegrown Fantasy also especially as a friend had a whitey moments after leaving there which had us all in hysterical laughter and to this day he still gets reminded of it.

Yeah, there's still skins and tips on the counters. I tend to take my own too

mellow yellow was the first coffesho I went into, I think it was 1984/5 ... I took my girlfriend to Amsterdam for valentines day, even though she didn't smoke..... I remember making my first smoke there and when I finish she said can we go now and I was like yes... when I can feel my legs again

remember the Hard Rock Cafe from 1989, when I flew back there from India ... don't remember a huge amount just the culture shock , plus I had a friend who worked in a brown bar in Harlem and his bag was a walking coffeeshop , just kept pulling out different types of hash all night

Was just thinking on my last trip how much I miss sitting outside Anyday on a warm summer night, watching the working-girls arguing with drunkards at their windows.

I was racking my brain earlier about a coffeeshop on Damrak. It was there on my first visit and disappeared when I next returned. It must have been La Rocka but although we definitely had a smoke there I've no memory of the interior.

Anyway, here's some images of the various La Rocka locations (all now gone)...

I was in here quite a bit in the latter years until it got shut down. My youngest aunt remembers going in the early years when it was a hippy hangout under Ton.

My reviews on the main site, along with many other now sadly RIP Utrecht shops.

Here's a little write up about La Rocka from 1994 from the book Dutch Hashcoffeeshop Tour. Hope it may help rejog your memories mate lol.

There's very little info about either of those on here but I'm pretty sure one of them had an alcohol licence and a pool table downstairs. I definitely went in one of those three for beers smokes and pool, and it wasn't Betty Boop.

Boedha's Joint Paradise - what a great name! - at Nieuwmarkt 12 during the mid 1980's which has since been renamed a few times over the years. Bar Studio 14 next door also had an interesting front window design so may have been an unofficial source or was user friendly. It did become a named coffeeshop in later years.
