Who were your earliest musical influences ?
As a young teenager in the late 50's early 60's I was blown away by the music of Bob Dylan and Miles Davis .
Who were your earliest influences ?

Kraftwerk for me, way ahead of their time.
Some would say pioneers of todays Trance/Techno music.

nirvana, beastie boys, pink floyd etc

Beatles

First tunes I can remember hearing then asking about was a mix of Bob Marley , Gregory Issacs & Dennis Brown I think , all blasting out of my 2 uncles room at my nans All of course still favs of mine.

Absolutely certain that the first record I asked to be brought for me was "Pass the Dutchie" - Musical Youth , still love this song & think the single is still somewhere at my Mums

thin lizzie,,,,whiskey in the jar,,,the song that first made me pick up a guitar,,,still play that song today

Was the music my parents listened to, mainly Queen, Electric Light Orchestra etc.

Has'ta be RAINBOW and AC/DC

guns & roses - appetite for destruction was the 1st cd/album i ever bought as a kid, its still 1of my favs, 1 of the only albums where every song is excellent

The songs played when i was a kid - The Pogues, The Dubliners and the Wofle Tones were played alot.

Meatloaf as well.

Deep Purple, Rainbow, Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis - ahh, how long have you got?

Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Redman, Wu Tang Clan and all that cheesy 80's music like Pat Benatar & Bananarama.

Two things changed my musical tastes.
Jimmy Hendrix and The Wu Tang Clan.
Before then, I was flirting with Indie Rock and Roll ( think, Cast, The Verve, the LA's etc )

My old mans vinyl collection, he used to run a mobile disco when he was a young hippie; white lightening sounds lol;
Hightide, hawkwind, floyd, king crimson, hendrix. First vinyl record i ever bought was marrs/pump up the volume 7" single. First album was Iron Maiden number of the beast (cassette), was well into rock for years; GnR, nirvana, pumpkins. Did'nt get into house music til late 20's when i finally got a hair cut

Growing up at school i listened to Nirvana, Offspring and Marilyn Manson....which i still love all 3 today.

Although when i was 16 (1998) i bought my dad the John Lennon album (or compliation from his Anthology) called 'Wonsaponatime'......less that a month later the cd is in my collection.....and by the following xmas i owned every Beatles and John Lennon album released.

So i would say John Lennon is my biggest influence. I even got a Lennon tattoo when i was 17
