The dutch celebrate "Sinterklaas" at the start of December...
I love Christmas in Amsterdam. Imagine Amsterdam without the throngs of tourists... Beautiful! Everything is open and unlike the UK where public transport grinds to a halt (just when you need to get somewhere!) it continues to run as smooth as clockwork (most of the time!). You'll love Christmas in the dam but make sure you are well wrapped up! I recommend extending your stay for New Years Eve in Dam Square. Talk about utter madness! More like a riot than a celebration, but awesome fun!
