Male Female plants

I bought 10 seeds a couple of months ago, planted them and now they are all nicely growing outdoors in pots.
I read that male plants are no good

I realise this may not come as a surprise to many but, I can't find information about this on the Internet, or rather, theres that much info. I just can't find a simple answer to why I can't use Male plants. I have no interest in cloning or expanding my forest

I just need to know, should I throw the male plants away

Thats what it seems many people do with males.
I am a complete novice and just wanted to put my seeds in the ground and smoke the plant a few months later

, I realise theres a bit more too it than that but any help would be greatfully received

When I first started i didnt understand it either, but here is the way that it is.
Males produce no THC, wich is what getsw you high. #2 Cannabis reproduces sexually, wich means the males pollinate the females to make seeds.
The reason why you pull he males is because one male can make every calax(bud leaflet) have a seed and in doing this it diminishes the quality.
Males make no THC only seeds in your good females thats why everyone says to pull them. They make NO THC(thc is what gets you high)

the reason for throwing away the male plants is they will pollinate your females. when this happens the female plants will stop focusing on bud production and just start producing seeds in the already existing buds. sinsemilla pot is pot grown without the presence of males ya see when you get plants with super huge sticky buds it's the females plants last ditch effort to get pollinated but too all of our luck the sticky suubstance the plants use to catch floating male pollen just happens to be THC rich resin

Many thanks

Now it makes sense that when buying seeds, to go for the female seeds, more expensive but guaranteed females.
The seeds I bought were Durban poison, from a local seedshop. They were only £10 for 10 seeds so I thought ,nothing to lose.
I'll have to do a bit more research into finding out whether they are male or female. I've seen pic's on uk420 site showing the difference but my plants are not quite big enough to tell yet
I may let them all grow regardless of sex, just to learn what to expect from next years crop
Always learning
Many thanks

Dont let the males grow if you only paid 10E, If you are growing outside when the first plants start to have white hairs, the males will have pollen sacks not hairs you will recognise a pollen sack, it will split into five spokes when releasing pollen. males look nothing like females, females have hairs on them, males only have pollen sacks, you can occasionally have a hermie wich is male and female, this happend on my melon bud. seeds will make a plant ripen faster in pollinated calyxes, for 10E for 10 seeds you dont want anymore seeds. Take experienced advice

thanks Ameriskunk. I wish I'd asked this before buying the seeds. It's too late in the year now to start again from seed so it's all learning for next year.

I've read that you need to be cautious when buying 100% female seeds, because some less reputable seed companies will see you hermaphrodite seeds that produce females and hermaphrodites instead of just females or females and males.
You want to find "cloned seeds", seeds that will produce a genetic replica of the mother plant.

what?
I don't think there is such a thing.
Seeds are seeds, and clones are clones.

Just spouting what I've read. Something about a complicated yearlong process of conditioning hermaphrodite plants into producing only female seeds through self pollination or something.
Just look it up, and see if it holds water in your eyes. =P

did you read in it the new high times??? cause i just grabbed a copy and there is a new product they review that, supposedly, spray on a "female mother" and this product forces this female plant to produce male flowers (pollen sacks). You then collect this treated mother pollen and fertilze your female clones.....giving you "seed with only female chromosomes"....
not sure if i'm buying that...it might work but its got to cuase other issues with the plant(s) and probably end up with seeds have a tendecy for hermies.
I will read more about this product and try to find some real world results.
If it sounds too good to be true it generally is.

I have heard some wild stories in stoner communty but clone seeds are imaginary and that male gene stuff, like you said it is probably to good to be true. You might have meant genetically stable seeds, these are usually only from reputable places thats why the seeds cost more. These companys selectly breed their plants thats how you reduce the number of males and hermies, some strains just make hermies probably most, I have has some myself. Plants make seeds to make a new generation of plants, so they will probably make at least one male seed per plant, I think you can reduce hermies and males but not make 100% female seeds, thats my opinion. In another forum someone bought femanised seeds and he got one male in a five pack.

I don't read high times. The magazine just isn't full enough for me to want to spend my money on it. I read it in some growing guide, but they didn't cite any sources.
But, as I said, I have no way to verify this claim either way, just simply telling you what I've read to let you pass judgement. =)
