Looking for recommendations. What is considered the best, and why?

Never used one , and never had problems with PH . Also depends what medium your using ? If it's soil and organic you shouldn't need one (I suppose that's all dependent on your tap water PH?) allegedly PHing organic soils can damage beneficial organisms etc only time it's advised is when preparing your flush/leach

I know that's no use to ya man soz I did have a PH meter , not sure of make etc but it did seem a bit better than a Chinese one my mate got the one I had is called the "hobby meter" from Growell £39.99 (although some peeps are hesitant to order from them)

everything I have read says Ph is important and affects many aspects of plant growth and nutrient uptake regardless of grow medium. I think you've just been lucky so far!

My grows got better once I started PHing things properly, I use some cheap Romanian make called Adwa.

GIB Industries pH-Meter, with soil puncture electrode, because it works great.
Had Hanna before and it didn`t last long.

Hanna HI 9813-6 it is a top of the line meter that also does ec. If you are serious about growing you need a good ph and ec meter other wise you are just pissing into the wind.

And everything you have read is inclusive of organic gardening ? I agree 100% that every other form of growing it is essential . But true organics does not need PH adjusted FACT


As for PH meters the one the troops are recommending looks just the ticket

Soma doesn't agree, he recommends using a ph range of 6.2 - 6.6 for organic soil.

Edit: For the record I've grown in loads of differant mediums and imo ph is probably the most important aspect in all of them, I tried just using organic soil and organic nutes and I had loads of issues, I then started using lemon juice but that wasn't good enough to keep the ph level consistent.

Ha ha my bad it would appear Soma does (only due to the Amsterdam water) I could've sworn i read that you shouldn't adjust PH with organic growing as the soil buffers the PH and all your beneficial stuff are in the soil and not the feed ? Oh well I'm only human

But on the other hand I have asked other organic gardeners who don't PH adjust either so maybe these peeps are lucky to live in an area with optimum water conditions ? When I grew I checked my PH about 3-5 times with feed (always feed never just water) and I was always within the range ?! Maybe it's the good water here ?

Edit again lol I'm not saying PH isn't important far from it , it's essential I'm just saying with a proper organic grow , I suppose with optimum water conditions you don't need to alter PH

Yeah he does mention the water in Amsterdam is 8+, I think the end of the day if it works for you then carry on whatever the 'experts' say.
