Dread Rock
In my opinion the only real rasta coffeeshop I've been to so far. Sometimes they have a reggae/dub DJ and I actually saw guys with dreadlocks in the place. Aside from the Old Church, this is the only coffeeshop in the Red Light District I would probably hang out in. The rest just suck. And before you jump realize I don't count Warmoestraat as part of the RLD. Oh and for a limited time only, Dread Rock is one of the lovely coffeeshops offering both weed AND alcohol. Get em while they're hot guys, cuz when they're gone, they're gone.

The best kept secret in amsterdam IMHO
Would never buy weed....but....the pool tables upstairs are awesome. Me and a mate spent close on 100E on the tables and they where alywas empty whenever we went in there.
There is no better place in amsterdam to blaze, smoke and play pool on a quality table.

Hope you'll be happy to hear then that its deffo open , just got back and was staying at an apartment about 5 doors away from it , never went in , but music boomed during the day evening, and the same 2 young rastas were out each morning scrubbing and brusing/mopping the pavement down, seemed cool, just never seemed to find the time to stop

Just a little blast from the past here to a place that was good reggae fun (for me at least) - sadly been closed a few years now.
Found a couple of vids on Youtube
First one is a short vid taken on a regular day inside and the kind of atmosphere I enjoyed
http://youtu.be/2L_phVoCvfI
Second one is number 14 in a series of 15 from Queensday 2001 and it is mega busy. The first 13 are taken from the inside looking out at the street and canal celebrations. At about 3min 16secs spy a note on the back mirror "Serious Bubblegum is available" nice

Hope you like
Cheers

Nothing but good memories for the best part about this place. Wander if they ever fixed that fuckin pool ball rack on the wall as it used to keep going off coz that last ball never quite made contact with the pin to de-activate the alarm when pool was not being played. Many a time we had to stich the roach card on the pin lol.
