tripadvisor is really good for that kind of question. Loads of reviews there.

I like it but you must be alright with a lot of stairs and I mean a lot. I would happily stay here again.

I was there in November, which may have been my last trip for a while, alas. It was fine. Smoking's OK as long as you don't set off the alarm (has anyone ever done this?) and there's a pleasant, though quite elderly and sedate cat. What more do you need?

I was there in April.

With the hotel above an Albert Heijn, even better.

Stayed there 2 times last year. Had the same room on top floor. Well for the price it cannot be beaten 50euro/night for single room with bathroom. However when it comes to cleaningness of the room the cleaning staff really dont care that much they didnt cleaned my room in 2 days. Had to even ask for clean towels at the reception in the end. The bathroom is a bit of a mess with shower near the toilet and the shades on the bath windows were fecked up anyone could see you thru window naked in shower lol..they should fix that. But for that price and location its good choice exept those little details..

Very good for the price - around £25 ! for a single room in December ...second stay in 2012 ! - really comfortable bed , no frills really but friendly and welcoming , lovely and warm , friendly staff (who remembered me from my Feb one night stay) - big and lazy cat , OK breakfast , handy Albert Heine for wondering into when stoned , Blue Lagoon down the road for 8 euro deals. What more do you need ? :D

The Abba Hotel is well located, it is not in the center, but walking distance. Perfect if you don't like the confusion and noise of a busy downtown!

Stayed here mid-December. 2 flights up, single room en-suite. Small but clean enough. Fine for crashing after a hard days strolling and stoning.

Tram stops 1, 3 & 12 on your doorstep and an Albert Heijn right underneath for snacks.

Was one of the rooms with a shared balcony at the back which wasn't ideal - not sure if they have single rooms with the private balconies at the front (are the balconies even private?). Noise travelled a bit (especially with every door set to 'slam' mode).

But I'm quibbling, what do you expect for 1* (relatively) close to Leidseplein and 150euro for 4 nights.

Would use again.
