Oranje Explorers looking to live in Amsterdam...

Hey everyone,
I know that there have been many threads that are asking for advice on living in Amsterdam, but here is more of a unique, specific question.
Oranjegirl (OG) and Myself are two travelers that have always been on the road since we first met. Og is an American and I come from England, yet we have not been back to live in our countries for long than 3 months in the last 3 years. We have dedicated the last year to making ourselves self reliant by working online, creating various websites and offering all sorts of services.
Recently we stayed in Jamaica for 2 months heading back Asia, to England where we currently reside for the next few days. Ideally we would like to stay in Amsterdam for 3 months and as a EU citizen I have read that this wont be to hard as long as I have a large wad of cash to hand over to someone.
My question really is how do I find the apartments that are available for short term that are more to the lower price range? Normally if you stay on the outskirts it becomes quite reasonable but whenever I look on various apartment guides and sites they are all very expensive places in the main centre areas.
Any advice or tips much appreciated,
Mr. Oranje

i have been searching for the last 2 months for a place now, i am moving from America to Amsterdam in late March, from what i have learned , its best to be there while looking for a room , theere are a few expat sites,www. Elynx.nl, is one site i check every few days, and craigslist, ( lots of scams on CL)

You guys are living a dream it seems, travelling from one cool place to another. Do you guys know about airbnb? You can rent rooms or entire apartments for short-term (even a day or two), sometimes for as little as 30 euro. The catch is that often you share a space with the owner. But this site is very specific about what you will find.
http://www.airbnb.com
I'm staying at a couple of these during my next visit to Holland in the spring.

Hallo,
If you are located in Thailand, as you avatar info suggests, there is another couple in Thailand that is looking to do the same.
Contact our fellow member Treetop, maybe you all can help each other out.
...
Note: a bit of TMI perhaps, but when I first read your thread, I thought you were Treetop's alter ego...
