centra on Lange Niezel is worth a look ,its a spanish restruant that offers decent food at reasonable prices, large dish of paella for 2,and caraff of house red is around 30e ( £20) its in the heart of the redlight area so the location tends to put some people off

www.cocosoutback.com is good value for a tasty meal, try the mixed grill! I'd also suggest going during happy hour 5-6pm when the beer is half price, plus if you take your plane boarding card the evening you land (or the next day if from a long haul destination e.g. US) you get a free pint.
If your looking for a top quality steak in Amsterdam try Iguazu's @ Prinsengracht 703, not cheap but very very good!

There are no shortage of great places to eat in the 'Dam. One place to check for veggie dishes and pata is the Food Studio. They are right next to the Grey Area.
Enjoy.
