Interested in easy day trips, preferably by train or bus, out to quiet places, wooded or sandy.
Not interested in renting or powering my own wheeled transportation.
Wouldn't even think of disrespecting historical sites, battlefields, etc by smoking there.

Been to the beach, but not any inland dunes.
Will try wetlands safari, and would like to get an exclusive excursion with a group of smokers.
Pack a big lunch and snack my way back to town for a late meal.

Is being alone even possible in the densely-populated NL?

Sarphatipark in Amsterdam, this isn't a day trip but it's a fantastic little park in De Pijp. It feels like you're in the country, that's why I mentioned it. Another bonus Katsu is right around the corner. I've spent many hours here and have seen many people smoking weed ,away from families of course.

amsterdamsebos is a nice park it about 9 km long ( bos 2) you can reach it by metro and a 5 minute walk. once your at the end of the park youll be near amsterveenweg if you keep going you'll see the Olympic park and the street turns into oveertom to dam square nice bike ride from to !

I'd go for the dune park from ijmuiden to zandvoort or walk the beach from to.
You can reach ijmuiden by ferry from behind train station and once there you take a bus from 10 minutes to the beach and into the dunes . Walk is about 15-20km

If you got a bike you can always go to Amsterdam noord! To reach noord the ferry is behind train station and its free! Lots of places to smoke sit and relax ....

Amsterdamsebos is worth a trip you won't really be alone but you can get out of the way, Sarphatipark is nice but it's just a park not like being in the countryside. The dunes between Zaandvoort and wherever the bus goes north to are generally quiet. And there was a p[lace half where between Utrecht and A'dam that looked like it would fit the bill, can't remember the name, or be bothered to look right now.

An easy trip, just the train or bus to Harlem, get or download a walkers map and then a No. 81 bus from the station going to Zandvoort, and jump off any where along the Zeeweg. Take lunch with you and enjoy the good air.

I've done many long distance bike rides all over Holland over the years, theres a couple documented on here , and honestly it's sand dunes and flatlands, it gets a bit hilly around Overdinkel towards the german border. but most of the others are just stabilised sand dunes even in the Hogue Velue forest. It's hard to feel small in a place the size of the Netherlands but it's easy walking country .

the dunes are a wonderful idea..the sea never fails on making one insignificant

Also if you ever have a bike and near alkmaar you can alway ride to camperduin the view on ride path on the sea is and if you can bike all the way to den helder

I've also biked lots in Netherlands

My favorite is in the delta in Zealand's / zuid holland ... Them dunes can get boring to ride but alway got some you see that brings something Interesting ... Like the time I stopped and found walls of cement seem to be war bunkers or something this was between noordwijk aan zee and zandvoort !!

Kinderdijk is a nice day trip after closing gets pretty dead of ppl around and windmills r cool things

Or take bus from Utrecht (120+ minutes on bus) or take it fro
Brenda or Dordrecht ?? (Ain't sure) bus 19 also goes stop is molenkade from wildmils

Better take train to zandvoort and walk to Haarlem just fallow to sound of the train !! I agree on it being nice walk!

zaanse schans is defintely one of the most beautifull places I've been to in the Netherlands. It's pretty busy in the center area but you can find too quiet spots to enjoy wind, windmills and zaan river. You can go there by bike, I did it and it's pretty easy, only 20 km and a very enjoyable ride (especially if you pass through Het Twiske park). otherwise you can go by bus from cs, or take a train to zaandam and then take a bus or have a walk

take the train to Castricum and explore the dunes
