Didn't find any source yet too so hope it's true as well! Intended to pay De Graal a last visit so this news comes in handy :D , fingers crossed it wasn't a smoke induced wish of you guys  (one I share!) ! Time will tell, inconsistent policy as usual!

While it's good news, I do see some big issues with those ultra-shortterm extensions.
CS are businesses and management has to plan, finance, regulate contracts (rental, staff,...) etc.

It's not only about the shop-owners, but i.e. the "landlords" who might have to agree to extend already cancelled rental-contracts for a few extra months. They might have some new booming/well-funded companys interested in claiming that location, that will totally drop-out because they'd miss the impending tourist season if delayed for 6 months... (an ice-cream shop will not start renting in December and will look elsewhere, just to give an idea) etc.
A lot of things that make it harder to plan and deal with, for everyone involved.

So, as I said. While it's good news, I wouldn't wonder if some of the shops still had to close simply due to general business issues arising.

Do any of these coffeeshops have any plans to relocate if eventually closed? Be sad for them to just disappear, especially Utopia and De Graal.

Don't want to be the bearer of bad news but am afraid very unlikely to happen in that case as I've been to De Graal recently and asked french(?)brown-haired budtenderness working there for a long time about it(as already planned a trip to visit them shortly before they close).
She said it's very unlikely to happen as then already closed coffeeshops due to distance to schools would take this obvious injustice to court then for reopening their shops. If successful then City of Amsterdam would have to pay for their earning loss for all years of closure.
That's one thing apart from these spineless bullshit politicans don't have a clue of that topic and it's effects
anyway   !
Last bit of hope is we're all laymen when it comes to jurisdiction and maybe those shops don't have a right for that(in my humble opinion of course they have but this sadly means nothing.). Fingers crossed! When they're indeed opened for another six months this is at least solace then(by the way still no online source found)!

Hi all - I'm planning a long weekend around xmas time. Do you think there will still be some coffee shops open around that time? I'm not really up to speed on what's closing and when and how many are closing.

Thanks

Only a few shops have to close, the vast majority will still be open.
