Sounds great  Have a nice one

Sadly I didn´t find much on my last trip that was worth to recommend. Like Tom wrote Tweede Kammer/Amsterdam Coffeeshop/ Boerejonges have some nice cheap static hash atm named White Choco Static (10€/g) and Big Buddha Static hash (11€/g but it seems to be a different batch so just check out before buying).

I made some good experiences with the cheaper frozen hashes from Siberie (around 16-18€/g). Usually pretty fresh and pretty tasty. Tried their "Hokosai Frozen hash (17€/g)" lately which I liked pretty much but could have been a bit stronger.

Old Church usually has some nice hash, too but was a bit disappointed here lately with their Strawberry Calippo hash (20€/g).

But there is a lot pretty good hash around in most coffeeshops in general now while it´s getting harder to find something really outstanding. I'm often a bit disappointed by the 20€+ hashes because they're often not really that special. You just have to have a bit of luck to find real fire

I wish you a lot of fun  and I am looking forward to your report :D

Day One - 31/12/24 (Halloween) - Part One

This one has been 5 years in the making, the longest I've ever gone between trips, and what a mad 5 years it's been. My last jaunt was October of 2019 with one of my best pals, G. Upon returning from that trip, I quit my shitty retail job, went back to college in my late 20s, and followed my dream of becoming a professional musician before eventually finding regular work in the industry. I also lost 2 close friends far too young, as well as the universal ups and downs of Covid. On a happier note, it was coming up to my 13th anniversary with my girlfriend. It was upon these changes in circumstance I would be reflecting and celebrating during the holiday.

With the Mrs in tow, we headed for Bristol Airport. Her parents agreed to chauffer us to and from the airport, and also to look after our cats and dog for the next 5 days, bless them. We enjoyed a Burger King and a couple of pre-flight cigarettes before setting off on a relatively unpleasant EasyJet flight, which was of course delayed. Through security in around 45 minutes, I partook in my first of many Amsterdam traditions, a pack of American Spirit cigarettes from the kiosk in Schiphol Plaza.

Heading outside for a smoke, I instantly transformed into a hideously ignorant tourist and crossed the path of a rushing businesswoman, who let out a very audible sigh of frustration, which I found hilarious and my girlfriend found embarrassing. I would continue to "quote" the noise and its accompanying hand gesture for the rest of the trip.

I stared at the sign outside the airport - Schiphol Plaza: Enjoy it, the time is now! I mentioned to my girlfriend about how a holiday is as much a mindset as it is a physical endeavour, and how the sign inadvertently summed up the correct frame of mind for the long weekend ahead - enjoy yourself, time of day is irrelevant, your schedule is at home so live in the moment. Cheesy stoner philosophy before the first joint of the day.

This became more and more a trip of firsts as time went on, starting with a bus from the airport instead of the usual train to Centraal. I decided on this since we were staying in Leonardo Boutique Museumhotel, adjacent to the Rijksmuseum, meaning we could skip a tram journey across town from CS. This did unfortunately mean I missed out on the stepping-out-of-Centraal-Station-as-Amsterdam-unfolds-infront-of-you feeling, which is akin to the ecstasy of opening a Nintendo 64 on Christmas morning circa 1997. We arrived at Museumplein around 8pm.

The hotel turned out to be fairly fancy for the price, with a free glass of Prosecco on check-in. Room nice and clean, good bathroom, TV worked, no complaints. We had been invited to the Dam By The Gram/Fairy House Halloween party, so we donned our costumes and headed into the Amsterdam night. Across the canal, past the Hard Rock Cafe, over to that square with the lizards (if you know, you know). Through Leidseplein and around onto the Prinsengracht. I bump into the first of many old friends, Easy Times.

I know this is probably the only shop I will hit tonight, so I stock up. 1g of Super Lemon Haze €11, 1g of Cookies and Creme hash €8, Caramello hash pre-roll €6, Easy Times grinder €5. The young female BT is friendly and patient, and shoots me a funny glance and an "enjoy!" on completion of my order. I think this is a bit strange, before realising I am dressed as Hunter S. Thompson. Judgement accepted. I head outside to join Mrs Smokeybee, spark the hash joint, and make way to Cafe Havelaar.

First smoke reviews coming up in part 2. No photos were taken on the first night, but many were taken later.

Day One - 31/12/24 (Halloween) - Part Two

I light the Caramello joint outside Easy Times, looking back at the DJ they have performing in the front area. I note that the prerolled joint tube is cardboard rather than plastic, a trend which would run throughout the next few days. I take a few puffs and we walk towards Leidsestraat. The joint is tasty, with a strong old school Moroccan flavour. Prerolls get a bad rap, but I find them to be generally pretty decent in hash form.

About 3/4 of the way through the joint we reach Dampkring, and I realise we skipped Cafe Havelaar by one street. Correcting our mistake, we head inside and I order a Coke for myself and a Heineken for the Mrs. The pint proves to be a grave mistake. We head upstairs to the party, and the first familiar face I see is the one and only Gapie aka Stan the Man. I then find Glen from Dam By the Gram, and introductions are made. "Here are your edibles..." I am told, before being handed 2 delicious cake pops.

We are offered a seat by Stan before being ushered into the back room, where I am introduced to The Gasman, SaucyWhiffs, and Hazeface, all members of the Strain Cainers/YouTube cannabis family. In a moment of embarrassing clumsiness I spill my drink on Hazeface, who is in a rather expensive looking monk costume, then apologise profusely several times throughout the night. I roll my first joint of the Lemon Haze.

What can you say about SLH? An absolute classic, this is a fair example, but is lacking in flush and cure. I roll another. There is a fellow next to me who is enjoying some extracts, making use of a rig so scientific it may have been created by Heisenberg. He is wearing a black hand towel on his head, I don't bring it up. We make pleasant conversation with an Irish guy, whose mind is blown by the fact that the Hawaiian shirt section of my Hunter S. Thompson outfit has photos of my cats and dog printed on it, a birthday gift from my girlfriend.

We are joined by our good friend and former university housemate Elliott, a member of this forum at some point. He moved to town about 9 years ago, currently living in the Bijlmer. We made friends after Mrs SB told me there was a French guy down the corridor who brought a bong with him, the rest is history.

We are then joined by a guy from Hong Kong, who engages us for 20 minutes before reaching over and pouring some of my Coke into his glass. Too stoned to process the situation, I didn't realise how weird this was until later, and definitely did nothing to stop it. He leaves, and I roll my first Easy Times Cookies and Cream joint. This hash is light in both colour and press, crumbling to pretty much kief in the spliff. Not the strongest high but very tasty and enjoyable. More conversation with Elliot, before parting ways and heading for the hotel. I am introduced to Dunk on the way out, manager of the Dampkring and online friend, who had been called into work and arrived late.

As the fresh air hit us, the fucking edibles kicked in. Mrs SB is not a smoker but has enjoyed coffeeshop brownies in the past. I smoke like it's going out of fashion, but have never had any discernable effect from any edibles, ranging from homemade fudge to Cali import gummies. These edibles, however, started to work in a psychedelic fashion. We later came to find out they were 300mg, way too much for the Mrs and just about enough for me. We bought a cone of frites each from Chipsy King, and then shit sort of got patchy.

I vaguely remember eating my chips while staring at a canal, and feeling like my hands were claws, similar to Lego. The next memory is the Mrs sitting upright in bed and declaring that a whitey was imminent. No shame in it, and God bless her for hammering a professional edible and a few pints like a champion. After the frankly rude awakening, I opted to roll more Lemon Haze and go for a 4am smoke on some benches by the canal outside the hotel. This would turn out to be my main smoke spot for the remainder of the trip. Fucked but happy, I retire to look after my girlfriend and sleep.

Day Two coming soon.
