Drinking and amsterdam

Is it ok to go into a coffee shop in Amsterdam if your over the legal drinking age but cant smoke pot because your not that age?.

I think you need to be 18 to enter or to buy at a coffeeshop even though at 16 you could get a beer in bars.

Very many shops all over the country are being a LOT more vigilant about checking the IDs of anyone who appears to be under 18. I wouldn't count on being welcome in a shop if you are not of age.
