Saw the amazing dutch DJ play a gig last Friday night at 02 arena in London - he played a wicked 6hour+ set and was wondering if anyone else here caught it and what they thought?

What??......How does playing a record compare with flying a stunt plane?
I don't understand.

Dj's use the turntable as an instrument, they don't just put the record on the thing and press play. They have to use precision and timing much like a stunt pilot uses every millisecond of time to make critical life threatening decisions...sure no-ones gonna die if the Dj stuffs up a transition or something but, it is critical to be on point all the time when playing a live set as the whole crowd reacts to how and what you play... you want them to be really happy that you're playing your set, not freaking out, reaching for the oxygen masks as you crash land the joint...ya dig?

Thanks for trying to enlighten me, too many years since I've been clubin'.
That generation gap's just too wide for my fat ass to jump.

Its not a simple job getting paid well, getting pissed and pushing some plastic around you know............ there's an art to it and years of practice involved.

i don't like most clubs, i usually prefer a nice pub, but if a known DJ comes than its ok.

Virtually anybody that can count to 16 and has an ounce of muzik sense can DJ...it's easy. Mind you, I've yet to see a DJ get killed in a burning pile of tunes after his decks crashed nose first into the ground while pulling an inverted dive. Since the topic is Tiesto, 'Its a simple job getting paid well, getting pissed and pushing some plastic around'.......cos he's a cheesy tosser.

Tiesto isn't just a DJ, he makes his own tunes as well and has made many top tracks. I have all of his albums and they are all good.
