Anybody else read this? I've read it 4 or 5 times so far and I must admit I'm a huge fan of Howard Marks after seeing his live comedy show a few years ago, anyway its all about his life as a drug smuggler, its very intelligently written and has some some genuine laugh out loud moments, some moments that make you sit back and say 'wow' and theres also 1 or 2 moments when you'll feel for him and his family, if you haven't had the chance to read it then get yourself a copy and enjoy!

its on my list...just haven't got to it yet...here nothing but great things.

Excellent book!!!! by an excellent man...we have a lot to be grateful for from Mr Marks.

I can also recommend the "Howard Marks Book Of Dope Stories" which has a similar cover. It has lots of short stories collected from throughout history from all sorts of authors.http://www.howardmarks.info/otherbooks/index.htm

Easy, I did!!! And you will enjoy it more as well...go for it!

Checked out some details on it via the net. Can't believe it's 466 pages long. That's way more than a weeks worth of reading for me, especially while in Amsterdam and under the influence.

Will certainly grab it from the library at some point but I think perhaps the Howard Marks dope stories book may be more suitable for a week in Amsterdam.

Dope Stories is harder to read but I guess you dont have to do it in one go...theres some little gems in there tho

I'll probably end up buying the Dope Stories book. Sounds more like my kind of reading.

Two Air Marshals Accused of Drug Smuggling

Two U.S. air marshals face federal drug charges accusing them of using their positions to smuggle narcotics through airport security and onto planes for transport, federal prosecutors said.

Shawn Ray Nguyen, 38, and Burlie L. Sholar III, 32, both of Houston, were arrested Thursday after an informant delivered 33 pounds of cocaine and $15,000 in "up front money" to Nguyen's Houston home, authorities said.

"We expect and demand that our law enforcement officials will themselves abide by the laws that they are sworn to uphold," said First Assistant U.S. Attorney Don DeGabrielle.

According to a criminal complaint, authorities began investigating Nguyen in November after receiving a tip that he was involved in selling drugs.

Authorities said Nguyen recruited Sholar and the two planned to smuggle 33 pounds of cocaine aboard a plane bound for Las Vegas in exchange for $67,500.

Both men face 10 years to life in prison and a $4 million fine if convicted.

The exact number of air marshals is classified but thousands were rushed into service after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

I do not doubt for one second that people of a military/judicial/political persuasion would seek to use this power for financial or other type of gain. I'm sure the United States is not alone for discovering that trusted members of society have chosen to abuse that trust.

Corruption is well known to be widespread in positions of power.

Who can say that they wouldn't do the same, given those positions along with certain circumstances which would justify the action of those people, for those people?
