I hope the same batch is available for you in a couple of weeks, but I doubt there will be any on my next visit sometime the end of September. Hopefully there will be some nice summertime (greenhouse grown) gear that will be available.

Atmosphere was awesome tonight. Music was great everything I smoked was great. It was awesome to see Leo's kids around the shop, really filling his shoes with some great hospitality.

James always has the best indicas. Warm and physical. Passwd a lovely warm evening outside by the canal, with lots of great company.

sat outside having a coffee and a head, a real personal touch with the tender, totally nice guy really felt as if he couldn't do enough to make you feel welcome, will defiantly be back again and again!

Get the OG13, Amnesia Haze, Cheese or Basjoe special or the recommendation of James... he will not steer you wrong. Geeky compared his weed to a warm hug, its a great description. You feel at home here. Grab some Og13l or and sit on the patio out front looking at the canal. Great vibe - so cool to hang out with ACD friends here for T & T. Highly recommend. James is MY FAVORITE of all!

Basjoe's Amnesia Haze

That was one of the 3 strains I smoked in my first, brief trip this past January. Amazing stuff. I remember it being spicy and potent.

I just wanted to add that I found Basjoe's in fine form while I was there this last weekend. The weed is amazing right now, just ask after what's good, as they are BUSY and the batches seem to be turning over pretty quick.

I love James though, because he doesn't sell stuff before it's ready, even when you're begging for it. You should have watched me shamelessly beg for some more cheese. That's part of why everything is so good- it's really rare to get under-cured stuff there.

Also, the boys (Leo's) are doing a great job! They know their smokes just like Leo did.

I would be remiss if I failed to mention that the current batch of G-13 haze is as good as the Amnesia. Totally changed my mind about that strain. Love it. Uplifting and energetic without being racy. Visual. Good for mixing if you are a serious stoner.

And, if you're in at a quiet moment ask James about the OG 18 Pollinator. Please, for me. It is the most amazing stuff ever. Totally unique from anything I've seen or tasted. So delicious. It's what James is smoking now. Same price point/concentration as Terminator/Butter etc, but tastier. And smellier. And, it's motherfucking OG 18, which is the hottest thing in the 'dam at the moment. Be nice, be chill, stop in when you can come back another day if you need to and ask about it. Then, smoke it in a pipe. Or a joint with tobacco. (I know I sound like a bossy geek but you will thank me.

Called in here on thursday to pick up some terminator and got half a gram with a gram of cream special, good coffeeshop and James is a real friendly guy he came out to get me my half g of terminator and was very happy looking in his job lol, my wife also said that he was the most stoned person she had ever seen.

i went in here on wednesday night as id heard lots of good things.. the bas special was what i was after. i was majorly dissapointed when the bud tender (really stoned looking guy with dreads) pulled out some rather unatractive looking / smelling buds.. i declined the offer as it wasnt what i was expecting.. i asked to see something else which didnt seem particularly nice either. i ended up getting 1g of heaven haze which was quite nice, nothing mindblowing though..

the man serving me didnt seem particularly happy to be there and the only words he said to me were 'thats all gone' when i asked to see some bud. no hello, no goodbye.. definitely no thankyou for your custom

basically i dont see what all the fuss is about. the shop isnt particularly cozy and the weed / service were average at best. what am i missing here?

i will go back as i always like to give shops a 2nd chance but i really dont see whats so special about the shop or the weed

This is from my trip report, but I thought it would be useful here.

Who is James and how can I make him my best "bud"?

James is the proprietor of Basjoe's, and that's a tough question. I think it's hard to make any european your best bud in the space of a vacation. For them, friendship takes longer to build. (James' warmth is a quiet one, I've known him for years now and our friendship has grown slowly.) I think sometimes people hear about how much some of us love James and expect him to be super outgoing and in-your-face friendly and are disappointed. They don't get it, real friendship takes time.

The good news is that you don't need to make him your best bud to get his best bud.

That's one of my favorite things about Basjoe's, and why I recommend it freely. Even the most obnoxious customers get James' best recommendation, the best bud in the bag, and get to enjoy the sunny relaxed vibe of the shop.



How I would try to score some of the OG18 special hash, I'm not sure he's going to have on the menu until cup time.

1) If you're there multiple days, make it by Basjoe's early in your trip. James has a limited supply of this, and it tends to come and go. If you ask for it early though, and he can get his hands on it, he will try to keep it aside for your return.

2) Go in, grab some smoke and a coffee, and chill until he's not busy at the counter. When he has some down time, that's the time to pull up a stool. Mention you're from the Coffeeshop Directory, tell him you've heard amazing things about his OG18 Pollinator Hash from Amy, and ask if he might have some around for you. If he doesn't ask if he has some terminator.

I think it could just not be your scene. That's cool. There is at least one shop for everyone in Amsterdam. The fun game is finding it. Happy hunting!

I was there last Saturday, and the shop was packed all night with happy people and the 6ACDers that smoked his Bas Special all found it really great. (The batch did change over from a variety that was really pretty to a more classic indica that was less pretty and a lighter flavor profile sometime Saturday evening.) I didn't think much of it when I saw it, but the first 2gs were gone in a jiff, and I bought another gram for my final smoke. I would go to significant lengths to get more of the first Special though, that was a real OG Kush tasting bud that was pure magic.
