The only times I've seen Basjoe empty was at opening time, and a couple of times when the weather was not fit for man or beast, just one lonely desperate stoner.
I have no doubt though there were MANY other times when it was empty, as probably with many shops. Still though...
...cruising by late and the place empty. Hmm, not a good sign.

Under different circumstances I think I would stop in an empty C/S, if the weather were exceptional and there was outdoor seating.
Sit outside, fire up some lovely, and watch the world pass by. Other than that, I agree with the ladies, not much of a vibe in an empty shop.

I will continue to visit Basjoe until the vibe and chill are gone. Maybe I've spoken too soon, dunno...
Anyone who thinks that people don't make the place, they hadn't visited places like Basjoe, Voyagers, Nes, Grey Area, etc...
The litmus test consists of one question - How many places can you name where you know the names of the staff?
Cheers... pun intended.
Happy trails...

Hey tutti,
Is it really that bad?
Has it become just another coffee shop? :(
When I visited in January, the vibe had changed a little, the visual effect hit the hardest though - no Hestia Cup, the pictures on the wall gone, and no James behind the bar.

Times they are a changin'....
Peace and love to all,
Happy trails...

well it was friday night and we wanted to sit and we wanted something a bit more lively. We eventually went out to the Kashmir and there we found lively indeed. :D...it was like the wild west, in spite of the DJs attempts to keep it groovey. Definately a case of be careful of what you wish for.

Thanks for this :( tidbit... I'll have a look when I'm in town next.
With a couple hundred shops in town, I think there may be one or three that can fill your groove. :)
I don't like the membership system anymore than the next stoner, probably even less. Up the hammers!! (Pink Floyd ref).

Happy trails...

Theres still a cool vibe to Basjoe, but the new owners are not responsible for it.

I think the atmosphere remains, but James' personality set the shoip apart from others.

Even though the new people are nice enough, not sure they will keep the tradition of Basjoe's "original formula".

Sad.

That said, no reason not to pop into this shop, even if empty. G13 was still best i found anywhere in AMS.

Probably will be our nightcap shop during the Cup... But hillstreet at market and green place will also be in play.
